Seriously? When did popularity become the metric? *Picard facepalm*

There are way too many people who take a YouTuber's opinion of Trek content and base their approval and enjoyment on what online Treksperts say, and that is just dumb. Random stranger on YouTube (or even stranger you've been watching for years) says a new episode or movie is dog doodoo and you use that as your metric.

The "I do my own research and think for myself" crowds are usually the biggest practicioners of groupthink and "the cool opinion."

I always wondered why the Warp Core auto ejection system NEVER worked in GR's 'perfect technological world'..

They were what? 0 for 4...?
;)

"Captain we need to eject the warp core. We are going to have a containment failure in 2 minutes" Geordi

"Negative Mr. LaForge. We don't have the budget to show that. We need you to solve the problem by pushing some buttons on one one of the consoles" Picard.

What Jessie Gender thinks of an episode of Trek doesn‘t “make or break” my own enjoyment of that episode (or show) and it certainly won‘t dictate what I will think of it, but it absolutely makes me excited for the possibility that I too will like it. Just based on the history of what she did and didn‘t like about previous episodes. Nothing weird or “groupthink” about it, so maybe let‘s not throw around such over-the-top interpretations?

Thinking for yourself is so passe.

The reviewer I tend to trust the most is Jeremy Jahns. Even though I don't always agree with some of their opinions stuff I also like how Red Letter Media sort of got me to try a few movies I might not have even heard of and I liked a great deal such as Dinner in America, The Cloverhitch Killer and The Vast of Night.

Well, this is too nuanced of an opinion! /s

I mean, I find Section 31 just groaningly awful. But I watched it before I posted my opinion on the movie and didn't go by the people who'd streamed it before I did. It's entirely possible I could have given it a warmer rating and kinder words, but I reserved final judgment until I clicked on Paramount+ and actually watched the film.

A few people here seem to have fair opinions of it, and good on them. But even if 90% of the board liked the movie I wouldn't have.

I don’t base me enjoyment on what other people think is good, but Jessie and I share similar opinions, so if that is SFA she’s reacting to, it’s a good sign I may like it as well.

If I watch/read reviews, it’s always after I’ve seen the product, not before.
