I am amused by how the beard and usually shorter hair on the head make George Hawkins' face look completely different than his characters. His face looks blockier 'in character' and leaner to me, when he's just being himself. His habit of always smiling and being super-expressive in-character, and more reserved it seems, in real life, also adds to the disconnect.
It is also neat how his constantly smiling came across as smug at the beginning, as if everyone else and their drama were just a big entertainment for him, but seems less and less so as his character matures (and now that he's actually staying and not just a 'tourist' who is just here for a bit and then back to Khionia).
SAM as well seems to be making the upgrade from 'tourist', here just to study organic life for her creators, to someone who is really considering who she is, and who she wants to be.
Caleb is gonna have to figure it out soon. He's also been more or less using his time at the Academy to further his own agenda, and not thinking of Starfleet as his future, but I don't think that's gonna be viable much longer.
