We're talking Beto and Uhura, right?
That was referring to T'Pol. There are two different sets of examples being discussed. Sorry if this isn't clear. Yes, Uhura appears to get consent, but it is not clearly ethical if Beto was not fully cognizant of what would or could happen . Nick Meyers made sure we knew that a mild meld is invasive, potentially dangerous and able to be abused.

I think Doug might've done something to Una too, no offense to Patton Oswalt but (and I say this as a not good looking guy myself)
????
I really hope you are not indicating that because he's less than 'Hollywood Perfect' in appearance that Una would not be capable of desiring him.
That statement on the face of it, is rather offensive, whether you meant it to be so or not.
People LOVE what they love and it's not always based on beauty.

Well, the new winner for worst episode of the series by my ranking. Only 2 left this season? This will probably be my exit year, this show is just not landing for me.

Vulcans aren't robots, but for some reason SNW likes to do this whole monotone rat-at-tat delivery for Spock and now the 4 crewmembers. They are reserved, but they DO modulate their voices and speak like people. Sarek, Surak, T'Lar, T'Pring, T'Pol, Tuvok all spoke like people. And for this reason, I have never bought Peck as Spock. He's playing him like Data and everyone but Oswalt did. And Oswalt was playing some Vulcan weirdo named Doug.

The discussion as to why Pike remained in command was BS. Just a temporary leave while Starfleet Medical examines them would be enough top relieve Pike of command and knock the crap off with the changes he wanted to make. The fact that Pike, et all, took a serum to change their genetic structure is enough to them to have a case. He is not the same person.

I'm trying with this show. Really. I have cast aside "canon" or anything that about this and TOS somehow connecting - it's not a documentary. But this one was was endlessly boring and just went out of its way to be stupid. It's not "just like TOS" at this point. This is what I would expect from a spoof of it. And if this were an outlier episode, I'd just chalk it up to it being a dud. Like "The Way to Eden" or "I, Mudd" or something. But this is the series they want to make. The "hey wouldn't it be fun if" kind of show.

This is more like an episode of Stargate SG1 or current Doctor Who - tongue firmly in cheek with moments of seriousness. Not my thing, but I get it has fans.

But for me, this episode was the worst of the worst of all the Star Trek I've watched in my 57 years. A waste of a good cast.

I gave it a 1 because 0 wasn't an option.

Telling people to tune out is fair enough but don't forget that a lot of people losing their patience with this season have been fans of the first two, so it's not like they're mindlessly hate-watching a random show they dislike for the sake of it. The complaints are often coming from people who were invested in the series and its potential.

Everyone obviously has different limits of what they'll tolerate before dropping a series too - I ditched Lower Decks after three episodes because I thought it was just absolutely shit, but stuck with Discovery until about halfway into season three because there was just enough there in the first two seasons to keep me watching. If the fourth season of SNW is a write-off, I'll probably just abandon it midway through..
Trek fans are resilient. Hell they continued watching TNG even after S1 and S2. ;)

Here ya go . . . :p

Vulcans have green blood, their liver is where humans' hearts are, they have a secondary eyelid and so forth. Changing them back and forth should have been a lot harder. M'Benga and Chapel should realistically be scientific geniuses for concocting this injection and this injection should be a really big deal, and they should be off doing far better things as of TOS. And people would realistically still be perfecting this injection and trying to use it long after this episode, if only for humans to get longer Vulcan lifespans.

This is one part I'm happy to handwaive. TOS especially always had some weird phlebotnum for super speed or telekenisis or aging funny or whatever and it never came up again. Hell, my favorite Trek film, First Contact, casually invented a way to turn any Starfleet ship into a time machine on demand via a throwaway line at the end. It's part of the format at this point.

What I can't excuse is them dropping the ball on what they did with it. This was half an idea stretched out to 54 minutes.

The serum was originally created by a race of God-like energy beings, so yeah, I don't have issues with the way it was presented. The original serum changed Spock from Human back to Vulcan as he was standing in a room.

It's strange how different this series is this season compared to S1. Watch 1x10 ( A Quality of Mercy) then watch what we got yesterday and tell me the two versions of the show match.
