But I can't say that the Shatner impression (or the other character's reaction to it) came from a place of love and respect.
I saw it as primarily mocking the cliched mimicry of others rather than mocking Shatner himself, though some degree of overlap is probably unavoidable.
Mistyped. Not every autocorrect requires a lynching! Now corrected.
Of course not. Only every third one. That’s just grammer. 😉

or Grammer, if Frasier Crane is being anal.

I agree. If Wesley was trolling anyone, it was people who have been saying his performance is nothing like Shatner. This was deliberately OTT.

I'm ready for Section 32 a.k.a. the Bureau for Investigating Troublesome Corrections, Horrible, Irritating New Grammatical Failings, and Offensive REdrafts that Vitiate Enjoyable Reviews.

Sorry, Mount's character doesn't sound anything like Roddenberry to me.

And he's a dead ringer for Isaac Asimov.

Asimov: Oh, absolutely.

Pike looked like Isaac Asimov and drank like Roddenberry.

I showed some Asimov pics to my kids. They nodded and said "Ah. Well, that seems obvious doesn't it?"

I was just wondering if anyone else agreed with the Mem Alpha post. I'm not seeing or hearing it at all.

So...one entry out of how many?

Cognitive distortion is real with a bias towards the negative.

It means perceiving reality inaccurately. I have my opinion about a tv show. It has nothing to do with "cognitive distortion". That was an insult. I don't have cognitive distortion. All I gave was my opinion on what I think the current creators are doing. You can absolutely disagree and leave it at that. Gosh. Sigh.

After being around here for so long, one would think that maybe you'd be over that thin skin syndrome of yours by now.

You might want to consider taking your own advice.

It is afterall, just a TV show were talking about and the comments made really shouldn't be taken by anybody in any deep personal manner.
We don't live with each other, we just interact through a keyboard.

Though, if I lived in OK, I'd be at @Jayson1 's door everyday with a high-pressure hose. :nyah:

Im just making comments about the show. Im not saying anything personal here about anyone. That wasn’t a nice thing to say.

"The Last Frontier", real show co-opted by the AI for the mystery or totally made up by the AI? La'An seem familiar with the cast and the show. Perhaps another piece of media she enjoyed as a kid?
I think it's a real show in-universe. The episode clips we saw largely have nothing to do with La'an's program, the credits especially.

No. It means emphasizing the negative in perception. Reality is full of negatives and those usually pop out. It's simply an observation and opinion of the "everything is bad in New Trek" idea I see around here.

I honestly don’t know why he still bothers watching. I guess his hate watching must drive clicks or something.
I have reached my confusion threshold with people who keep watching a show though it brings them no enjoyment.

I won't beleaguer this point anymore suffice to say is I Iiked SNW at first. I didnt like how they completey changed the Enterprise but the stories were OK. Once they've gotten to the gimmick story telling such as the lower decks cross over, the musical, the trelane comedy, this holodeck episode etc. I have to say my piece. Its not good. I want strange new worlds and strange areas of deep space explored. We dont get 26 episodes a season only 10. I expect perfection at this point with so few episodes that have to be produced. Now we are going to get a puppet episode. These guys seem more enamored with the buffyverse than star trek.

I feel like there's a comic book story along these lines. Maybe written by Peter David at one point. @Therin of Andor , you would know. Does this ring any bells? The crew visiting a Star Trek convention planet?

I may be thinking of a She-Hulk issue, come to think of it.

The Sensational She-Hulk #12 by Peter David by Ian McLean, on Flickr

"The Sensational She-Hulk" is making a feature film at Major Motion Pictures. Crashing through a wall, she interrupts William Shatner, Patrick Stewart and Wil Wheaton making a crossover "Star Trek" movie!

I'd be surprised if RMB still has gaskets left.
On that topic, I was bored during my walk this morning, so I listened to a recent episode of Inglorious Treksperts on season 3’s first couple episodes that was mostly run by guests Gabrielle Stanton, Kay Reindl, & Zazie Sales. While it was fun to experience Mark Altman suffer while listening to people actually enjoying Star Trek in his presence, he did mention RMB is still watching SNW this season and probably seething with rage.

And honestly, that makes season 3 that much more enjoyable to know it makes RMB cry impotently into his TOS onesies.

But did anyone get any kind of Roddenberry imitation from Mount? I mean, if you're a fan of a certain age (the kind of people who listened to Inside Star Trek and watched the intro to The Cage or various TNG press promos) you know that GR had a very distinctive style of speaking. And I don't think that was it.

There was definitely a GR quality to the way the words would go to a high pitch sometimes. I was looking away at one point and heard him deliver a line and that's when I realised. The suede jacket also looked exactly right on him, not that I necessarily associate GR with suede. (Aha, yes!)

I missed the Una-as-Lucy-analogue completely, until seeing it mentioned here. But YES!

I agree on too many gimmicks.

But, ten episodes is perfect and I can rewatch what I like and skip what I don't.

I just don't think that the show reflects anything poorly on the producers or their attitude on Star Trek.
