Yeah, I’ve been more excited for the fifth episode than any of the others post-premiere. When we learned little bits about the five of them, I took notice here.

I feel disturbed that I think his Shatner impression was the best acting I've ever seen from Paul Wesley. Not that he's a bad actor but that he managed to perfectly capture all the tiny little visual ticks of the actual Shatner from TOS as opposed to the exaggerated caricature.

Also, in a strictly caveman sense, that outfit of La'an was garish but....really worked for me. I had Agent Carter flashbacks (in a good way).

I have an episodic theory -
Season 2: Even number episodes are good, odd numbers are not so good.
Season 3: Even number episodes aren't so good, odd numbers are good.

(Season 1 is an outlier, only 7 and 8 weren't so good.)

Yeah that's the big downside of doing a prequel - you CANNOT do any of the popular stuff that's canonically encountered only later for the first time in-universe:

No Borg, no holodecks, no Romulans, no Q, no Ferengi, no cloaking devices, no androids, no group-beaming, no Section 31, no Gorn, no Mirror Universe

Naturally, I expect all of these things to pop up.
With only the flimsiest of excuses.

That's just fine.

Michelle's been waiting for La'An and Spock to get together since the first Gorn episode. So, she feels vindicated.

I'll give it a ten.

They should have started with La'An and not waste time with Chapel.

I think it is Re-Creation as in it recreates things, not a recreation as in fun room.

Since ENTERPRISE, I attribute any canon shenanigans to the Temporal Cold War.

There was no Enterprise NX-01 launch until the Suliban drove a Klingon into the corn fields.

Which makes sense. Especially since Enterprise demonstrated use of the holodeck long before.

If Enterprise can be in continuity so can Strange New Worlds and Discovery.

I don't know about definitely. The one thing we can say is that she won't dump Spock, because that would be repetitive with Chapel.

Maybe Spock dumps her? Maybe it's just a rebound for both of them and they get it out of their system pretty quick?
