The discrepancy comes from the people in charge of production overall not caring much about accuracy. The clothes, the accoutrements, the language is Regency despite the look of the "castle". Why did they choose it? It added just the right amount of pretentiousness? Who knows. When I was eleven I just really liked the pretty dress.
Well, in this instance you could probably blame Nicholas Meyer, as he was the one who determined the 23rd century setting for The Wrath of Khan despite Gothos inferring a later time frame.

I thought it was bonkers. A lot of fun. They went with the old theory that Trelane was a Q, but is he the same son we saw on VOY? Maybe Q got busy after that.

Uhura knows 500 languages but by the time she's 60, she still won't have gotten around to Klingon. Writers really like giving her superpowers she never had before.

She knows 500 languages NOW. But remember in a few years (in universe) she has her mind erased by Nomad. So maybe its just taking her a long time to catch up.

Hardly.
The Berman era treated the TOS era with anything but respect.

They were all envious that TOS was (at the time) still more popular than TNG - and it was the first thing most people thought of when you said "STAR TREK".

Disagree. Look at the care that went into the TOS bridge on Relics and all of Trials and Tribbleations, Flashback and In a Mirror Darkly pts1 and 2. They gave the TOS era plenty of love.

And it also resulted in the most successful of the series, both critically and in the ratings.
Eh, I'll give you it had high ratings, but most successful? I think TOS earns that title by the fact we're still talking about it 60 years later. The characters are just as important to the fandom now, as they were in the 60s. Hell, just from a merchandising point of view, TOS is still the king.
It's go to comfort food for when I'm feeling down. A loving tribute to Star Trek and its fans.
One might call it..... a valentine for the fans.

Yes they did. The TOS style bridge looked fantastic in a mirror darkly.

Or we could blame Trelane who doesn't understand linear time at all really. 900 years or thirty seconds. All the same to him.
No. It was the Enterprise crew who established the actual distance between Earth and Gothos.

By the way, it's not a contest between "Squire" and TWOK. Other TOS episodes implied a timeframe around the 22nd or 23rd century, such as "Space Seed" and "Tomorrow Is Yesterday." "Squire" is the outlier here. But, yes, Meyer directed and helped write the film that canonized and nailed it down to the 23rd century.

The exact line in WNMHGB is that Kirk arranged to have Mitchell serve with him on his first command. Whether or not Mitchell was the XO there is an argument that no one has ever been able to solve, even the tie-ins can never agree on the matter.

Kirk asked for Mitchell but we don't know if he actually got him on his first command.

Care? For that Ep. They only built the Engineering station, Turbo Lift alcove, and the Captain's Chair.

If you notice, BOTH Scotty and Picard have the Tibo Lift alcove walk behind them as they 'enter' the Holodeck recreation and for a hardcore TOS fan. it's honestly jarring as that WOULD NOT be what you would see behind them from the angle they entered if it was a full bridge set.

For the full empty Bridge shots they had with no characters in them was most likely stock footage from TOS S3 The Mark Of Gideon.

The above said Enterprise (under Manny Coto), did do an amazing and full rebuild of the TOS TV era Bidge set for ENT S4 In A Mirror Darkly, but honestly Berman and Braga weren't very involved during that season except for the IMO horribly disrespectful ENT S4 This Ain't The Valentine...err...These Are The Voyages.

That's called the budget. That they spent to build any set at all for that single scene means they thought it was important enough to spend some bucks.

Enterprise could afford to build a more elaborate bridge set because it was the centerpiece of an episode, not a feature in a single scene.

No kidding.

But I mentioned it in response to someone. claiming the degree of "care" taken to reproduce said Bridge.

Guess you didn't bother to read thr quoted part.

Two episodes, actually.

Ortegas very obviously wasn't being literal.

Or, you know, he was just making stuff up as part of the show he was putting on.
