To your point then, were the filmmakers of The Wrath of Khan just dealing with "extreme laziness on their part?"
No, now, as you know, back then there was only seventy-nine episodes and one movie to keep track of. Compared to today when there's nearly a thousand and

Oh, wait a minute. This comparison doesn't make sense does it? Surprised it's always the Go To Argument for That Crowd.

They can't even keep track of their own continuity which is extreme laziness on their part.

I caught that too, but then I thought about it. It's like when Valeris was telling Uhura and crew when StarFleet ordered Enterprise back. The ship had "repairs" to do before they could get underway.

Need I reference Luke winning the favor of the beautiful Princess of Alderaan in Episode IV?
The same Luke who ended up kissing his own Biological Sister on the lips.

The only thing changing the situation is the eventual discovery that they're biological siblings, so Leia quickly & suddenly fell in love with Han Solo.

The line in ROTJ makes it worse that Leia has always known. That aged poorly across 3 movies. Those writers of ROTJ never watched ANH!

When I think of fictional characters like the Lannisters or think of real-world examples like Mackenzie Phillips and her father and the unfortunate couple that I read about some years back who found out after several years of marriage that they were biological sibling separated at birth, the stuff with Luke and Leia really does come off as rather inconsequential in comparison. A little awkward in retrospect, sure, but nothing particularly scandalous.

I enjoyed it but I am apprehensive that Scotty is being written as so much younger than he actually was at this time. Of course, if he dropped out of Starfleet to work on freighters, and only recently rejoined, he might be inexperienced as a command officer and he does have 4 years to be promoted but they seem to be playing him very young for a 40 year old.

Why are a civilian nurse and a physicist in charge of sick bay? There is still a chain of command. Where's M'Benga's subordinate? McCoy had two junior doctors, a pathologist, and a psychiatrist on staff plus a head nurse and a dozen nurses.

I love Chapel but she should be assisting a qualified surgeon. A missed opportunity to acknowledge Piper.

Even Star Wars' and George Lucas' vaunted continuity and from the OT and Prequels doesn't hold up very well as late as, oh, The Empire Strikes Back. The moment Lucas retconned Darth Vader to be not just the villain who killed Luke Skywalker's father BUT in actuality Luke's father was the day everything in that universe was also up for grabs.

Need I reference Luke winning the favor of the beautiful Princess of Alderaan in Episode IV? ;)
Don't forget suddenly making the Emperor a Sith Lord and on par/more powerful than Vader.

From STAR WARS:
Tarkin (Speaking to Vader on the Death Star): "The Jedi are extinct. Their fire has gone out of the Universe. You my friend are all that remains of their religion."
