They haven't killed off Batel...yet. Maybe Christine can save her with some really bold experimental treatments but I'm still getting the feeling she dies in the Season 3 opener and that will send Pike down the path of not getting romantically involved with anyone else until his accident.

Bold, experimental treatments backfire.

Batel is the origin of the humanoid form Gorn.

Canon is saved.

All they have to do get out of this next season is convince the Gorn that all the colonists and crew are gestating eggs. Medical mimicry at its finest. And then slip out the back door.

The Gorn sure are territorial.

I'm disappointed that I didn't see a Gorn gulp down a nitrogen grenade and burp frozen death.

We see the Battle Bridge in this episode!

Christine's luck obliterates the odds. Maybe that's why Spock finds her so fascinating.

Didn't the Season 1 episode establish that incubating Gorn eggs establish a network with the rest of the host body's circulatory and nervous systems?

I guess one possible explanation for the slow moving Gorn that Kirk fought is that species slows down the older they get?

Let's be honest, that is the most unconvincing fight in the history of cinema. Why they chose to film it like that or not at least speed the Gorn movement up in editing is beyond me. A six year old could have ducked those Gorn's punches.
Maybe it was colder than we thought on that planet?

I'm sure someone has already said this but couldn't they just hack her arm off?
ala: Like Lister's arm with the Epideme virus? It didn't work then ;)

As Enterprise flees the Gorn captain reports their failure...
“There was only one ship.”
"One? Are you sure?"
“Yes. They called it... the Enterprise.”
"Why was it not destroyed, with the rest of their fleet?"
“It fled, as we set fire to their planet. But I followed with all the ships in my command.”
“...By the time I learned the Humans' intent, there was nothing I could do... I will continue my campaign against the Humans.”
“...What would you have your Arbiter do?"

Wort Wort Wort...

I was not expecting a cliffhanger but I will take it. Why does Spock need to apologise to Chapel? I hope whatever the writers are planning with these characters. Their break up will be resolved smoothly after the poor way it was handled in Subspace Rhapsody.

Having Scotty was a suprise. The creators should be commended they kept it a secret from fans and the media until the end.
