Damn.I'll be honest, I was hoping for Iain De Caestecker as Scotty ...
That would have been nearly perfect.

They haven't killed off Batel...yet. Maybe Christine can save her with some really bold experimental treatments but I'm still getting the feeling she dies in the Season 3 opener and that will send Pike down the path of not getting romantically involved with anyone else until his accident.
Wait, where? We see the Battle Bridge in this episode!
Maybe it was colder than we thought on that planet?I guess one possible explanation for the slow moving Gorn that Kirk fought is that species slows down the older they get?
Let's be honest, that is the most unconvincing fight in the history of cinema. Why they chose to film it like that or not at least speed the Gorn movement up in editing is beyond me. A six year old could have ducked those Gorn's punches.
ala: Like Lister's arm with the Epideme virus? It didn't work thenI'm sure someone has already said this but couldn't they just hack her arm off?
Wort Wort Wort...As Enterprise flees the Gorn captain reports their failure...
“There was only one ship.”
"One? Are you sure?"
“Yes. They called it... the Enterprise.”
"Why was it not destroyed, with the rest of their fleet?"
“It fled, as we set fire to their planet. But I followed with all the ships in my command.”
“...By the time I learned the Humans' intent, there was nothing I could do... I will continue my campaign against the Humans.”
“...What would you have your Arbiter do?"
Again, where? That's the main bridge of the USS Cayuga, no? Judging by Spock and Chapels subsequent egress?
Midwestern towns are extra delicious.
