Regardless how you feel about this episode, you can tell that the cast and crew had a blast shooting this episode.
OK, as corny ( I say that with love) as this ep was Uhura's solo song did give me chills.
I'm not too keen on this kinda thing,

If it weren’t for the corny Klingons I might have given this a 10. Walk Through the Fire was a better showstopper than SNW even though there was a lot of songs I liked here. They pulled this off and I am really happy with it. Looking forward to getting my hands on the soundtrack.

Oh, easily the best of the lot. But we had a lot of fun with Chapel's villain song too. XD
Uhura and La’An were the stars of this episode. Una’s song was great too. I think those three were my favorites.
It's like she's more ambitious than we thought. also Jess Bush is fricking gorgeous as well.

I'm wondering if it's less her ambition (though I think that's genuine) than it is that, as we saw last season, she cuts and runs when she catches feelings. So she's casting herself as heartless as possible in that moment.
And yet years later she still has feelings for Spock. So makes her also a hypocrite
I will say, although this wasn't an "Uhura" episode, it was definitely a Celia Rose Gooding episode. I don't really follow Broadway closely, but seeing them perform it was obvious to me that they're the actual "star" of the episode so I was not surprised that they were in Jagged Little Pill for like 4 years. I know that you have to lip sync in a filmed musical (Les Mis is a perfect example of why singing live doesn't make for a better performance for film) but the Uhura song was the only one where I was able to lose myself in the fiction of the episode and not feel like I was watching lip syncing.
I don't know how to describe it. In a video game context, I guess it's like noticing the difference between 30fps vs 60fps, where it just feels off when someone isn't doing it right and unfortunately for me the rest of the cast just weren't operating at Gooding's level. Not that I expected them too, but it's just one of those things for me that affected my enjoyment of the episode.
That aside, it was really fun episode and it was clear they enjoyed themselves. Although I kind of wish they went full Schmigadoon! with it by actually living in Broadway rules, but at least they played on the song tropes - again, screen performance aside, La'an's "want" song was really good - but they sort of wrapped it up with a nice ensemble finale number. It's also a nice touch that they redid both the opening credits song and the end credits song to really embrace the theme.
The finale number also gave me such Macross vibes, particularly with how the Enterprise was interacting with the Klingon ships and the anomaly, that I was basically thinking DECULTURE during that whole sequence.
In lieu of Star Trek: Broadway with Broadway performers, this was great though. They didn't "throw away their shot" as someone might say from another musical. lol

To be honest it feels a lot less pathetic that Nurse Chapel wants to hook up with an ex-lover than just pining after a dude not interested.

Spock's "I'm the X" was my second favorite but Uhura's solo number was amazing. I'll have that stuck in my head for weeks and hope it's available to stream somewhere. I'd been looking forward to it since hearing it in the teaser.
The Klingon punk rock/boy band was a little too silly and started delving into parody territory but the rest was so good I can forgive. I'm glad this was chalked up to a strange subspace phenomenon and not another alien race trying to communicate through unconventional means.
