Yeah, the 1701-B bridge is pretty close to an exact copy of the TUC Excelsior bridge with just some stations and control interfaces switched around, and, of course, the red digital clocks removed from the design.

It's not really "close to an exact copy" of the Excelsior bridge – the double-width science and communications stations seen on either side flanking the captain and the alternate railing layout are taken from the Enterprise-A bridge, the platforming around the captain's chair and helm consoles are significantly simpler than either the Excelsior or the Enterprise-A, there's no "coffee table" in front of the captain's seat, the aft bridge alcove is different with an added tactical console, and the flooring is different; and of course it has all that wood panelling (which I love, incidentally).

It's certainly of the same design language as the Excelsior and Enterprise-A bridges, but it really looks like a perfect cross between those two The Undiscovered Country sets with a complete overhaul in materials and colour scheme – as rather befits an Excelsior-class Enterprise, really :)

Extremely similar - put together from the same parts. They widened out the rear area so as to jam Kirk and all those other spectators into it.

QoM demostrated why Kirk was the best Enterprise Captain for that time. It was a perfect callback to TOS. I just wish (see different thread) that they could have gotten Pine (or Keeso) to play Kirk.

New theory: Khan wasn't actually going to take over Kirk's ship in Space Seed, just wake the rest of his people then go on his way. But once he read on the Enterprise's computer what happened to Una, and seeing fellow Augments persecuted and treated like criminal trash, he snapped and decided to get revenge. The Fed's actions caused Khan to go on his 23rd century rampages.
if only he had also read that his descendant had been a previous chief of security on the Enterprise openly telling people she was his descendant

Very entertaining episode, but the premise was pretty thin. There's no reason Pike has to become a vegetable and those two cadets have to die to get Kirk into the captain's chair. Pike could just resign or transfer and recommend Kirk for his replacement. Or Pike could just stay aboard, but do things as Kirk would have.

I suppose the line about Spock getting fried in every attempt to alter the future might have been justification for Pike not changing anything, but that seems a bit flimsy as well.

The point is when Pike tries to change his fate that he accepted other people die and more people die. Things become worse.

They can’t have him change the future because the show is trying to line up with TOS.
Exactly, they tied their hands by not making it another universe. Actually the franchise tied its hands when they didn't change let the actor play a healthy Pike back in the 60's, instead they stuck him in that damn beep chair

that’s still many years in the future. And anyway there is no reason they can’t have him in the chair on Talos for a month and then be cured.

But that's not what happens. Pike leaves the Enterprise when he's promoted to fleet captain in 2262, which is when Kirk takes command. His accident happens in 2265 on an "old class-J starship". Kirk was already in command of the Enterprise when Pike is injured.

But that's not what happens..

Nothing happens. It's all fiction. Whatever the writers decide are the story events, are the story events.

Pike leaves the Enterprise when he's promoted to fleet captain in 2262, which is when Kirk takes command. His accident happens in 2265 on an "old class-J starship". Kirk was already in command of the Enterprise when Pike is injured

Those dates aren't canon.

The five-year mission begins in 2265 and lasts to 2270 and Pike's accident occurs in 2266, months before "The Menagerie, Part I" which is set in early 2267.

We've never been given a canon date of when he was promoted or left the Enterprise.

According to...?
Well Icheb on Voyager said Kirk's 5 year mission ended in 2270, which would most likely mean it started in 2265. Considering it's a 5 year mission and all that.

Where everything took place in-between is based on math and/or speculation.

Just going by what startrek.com says. Either way, the dating of "The Menagerie" and Pike's accident is pretty solid, and regardless of whether Pike left the Enterprise in 2262 or 2265 or anywhere in between, Kirk was already in command when Pike is injured by delta radiation.
