...And I guess they haven't had much experience with photonic beings yet...
Yeah, they only had mas free roaming Holographic emitters since the 25th century - and 'The Doctor' (who in 800 years NEVER chose a name?) so I guess 700 years of free-roaming Holographic beings is not enough to become knowledgeable about them.

* - And not related to the above, but another story point I found ridiculous:

So, if the 28th century Holly Hunter's character was the cadet who did the 'legendary' prank of being the entire Cadet Class to the Roof of something and it took a day and a half to get them all down?

Even IF she made it so the Academy Transporter system was 'locked out' or something; you're telling me Starfleet in the 28th century couldn't use Spacedock's Transporters, or one of more ships in orbit to just beam them all back down?:wtf::rofl:

Do you get distracted by the mountains of muscle on Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, or Dave Bautistia, or John Cena?
All former WWE guys known for having "Mountains of Muscles".
All who appear nearly naked for a god chunk of their career in-ring, or on screen.
Actually, yes. Depends on the role. I like Dwayne Johnson. But I can't take him serious in his roles. He's always Dwayne Johnson. Same for John Cena. Batista - somehow has amazing acting skill and a great pick for roles - he somehow usually fits in (Dune, GotG, Bond, Blade Runner). And don't forget good old Arnold Schwarzenegger. Great as Conan & Terminator. Not so sure about True Lies and Total Recall. His size was a bit too much for these roles.

It gets more complicated with superheroes. Thor, Wolverine, Captain America I understand being jacked. Ant-Man? Yeah no.
When you open up casting to the widest possible base.
Many Polynesian / Samoan / Pacific Islanders can be HUGE at that age.
When Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson was about Sandro Rosta's age, he was equally huge & jacked.
Lots of black actors as well. Travis Mayweather on ENT was also ridiculously jacked beneath that baggy jumpsuit.
Interesting fact, Sandro Rosta, this is his 2nd acting Gig, ever according to IMBD.
Talk about landing a sweet role as your 2nd acting Gig & first major Gig to begin with.
Yeah the kid is gold. Like a polynesian Chris Hemsworth. 2m tall, unreal body, ridiculously good-looking & charming.
But yeah - almost too big, at least for his current role, a kid who grew up on the run. (Hemsworth recently also got "too" big for my liking btw).
Somehow the juice & actors routine got hypercharged the last decade(s). It's a bit much tbh.
Also, SAM was technically cheating by using her Holographic Permeability within the game, but since it wasn't in the rule-books, it's hard to blame them for pulling the stunt.

It was a brilliant tactical move.
"Destroying public replicators with paintball guns" is surely against the rulebook, no?
So, after 1000 years of holographic technology Starfleet never adjusted the rulebooks? I thought holograms would be the ultimate training partners...

I guess it's a difference in taste, I'm used to seeing Ginormous Dudes on TV since I'm used to watching Pro Wrestling my entire life.
So seeing them in other roles is just fun for me & quite the treat.

I was ecstatic to see "The Rock" as the 'Pendari Champion'.

It gets more complicated with superheroes. Thor, Wolverine, Captain America I understand being jacked. Ant-Man? Yeah no.
I liked the fact that Paul Rudd got a 6-pack for his role.

It adds to the credibility.

Lots of black actors as well. Travis Mayweather on ENT was also ridiculously jacked beneath that baggy jumpsuit.
He wasn't allowed to show off his jacked physique most of the time.
Here we get to see it more often than not.

I find it refreshing to have some big guys play non stereo-typical roles.
It's a lot of fun.

"Destroying public replicators with paintball guns" is surely against the rulebook, no?
It might be against the Campus Rules in general, but not the Callica Rules.

So, after 1000 years of holographic technology Starfleet never adjusted the rulebooks?
::Shrugs:: Calica is just their "Advanced Laser Tag" mixed with bits of CTF (Capture-The Flag) / Soccer to some extent.
I don't think Holographic students are that common.

I thought holograms would be the ultimate training partners...
But they would usually be part of the program and not a fully Sentient being attending StarFleet Academy.
Being a Sentient Hologram gives you a HUGE set of advantages that no Organics can match.

Probably a title vs rank kind of thing. The head of the War College probably has the title Commander of the War College.
The head of Starfleet Acadamy probably has the title Chancellor Starfleet Academy. When the ship is in San Francisco, they have their school titles, If either of them are the CO of a ship underway, the title would change to Captain, but only for the one running the ship. Dont' know if that is stated elsewhere, just my head canon.
In TNG, the head of SFA was the commandant

In universe, Caleb was fully exposed, against his will, to the wider public. We might not have seen it on screen but in-universe that's what happened. That is a horrific thing to do.
In LDS, they had holographic representations of the crew in explicit orgies that people were watching from outside, and most people found it fun and no problem at all

No they said furry like a Koala. It was the Lappling, which iirc was that creature Alexander tried to rescue in an episode of TNG

Apparently so, maybe that's why he seems like a perfect fit for StarFleet sciences / medical division.

He's definitely not a Klingon Warrior on the front lines, ready to die in battle for his honor, his house, & glory.
Neither was K'empec or that Klingon ambassador who brainwashed Geordi.

I think the fact that this show is a youth show, a young adult show, doesn't fit the overall structure of Star Trek.
This is some gatekeeping nonsense.
