The Intrepid's photon torpedoes narrowly missing the Titan-A reminded me of just how close the 1701-E torpedoes came to hitting Cochrane's Phoenix.

You're right, but you know sensors will always be inconvenient if the plot dictates them to be. :D Admiral Quinn was infested with a parasite and was carrying another with him in "Conspiracy" yet it seemingly wasn't detected by the transporter's filtering systems. It was only differences in his personality that clued Picard in that he might have been compromised. And there's plenty of times when losing a comm badge meant practical invisibility, even though the ships can detect individual statistics at very long ranges. :rommie:

Well, that's certainly very true! The writers do ignore those implications constantly per the needs of the story.

But we also need to take the writers at face value when they explicitly tell us things. In this instance, we're told directly that changelings are undetectable.

Or it's a mystery. ;)

Of course, it's always the execution that matters. We'll have to hold judgement until then.

Well, no, we don't have to hold judgment. It's already a bad decision since it's made the existing episodes up to this point worse.

Imagine if, in Wrath of Khan, Kirk was attacked by a mystery ship and we didn't know until 20 minutes before the end who the bad guy was or why he was doing it. It would have been a demonstrably worse movie by far.

I disagree, because Sovereign Class Starship, even in NEM era has better weapons equipped if compared to Titan A. You should be aware that Titan A doesn't has Phaser Array, like Sovereign, while Sovereign is equipped with 2 of them. Another thing is that Sovereign is also equipped with a more advanced Quantum Torpedoes, while Titan A has only Photon one.

So even if Titan A has more advanced technologies compared to Sovereign, they still outclassed by Sovereign. I also doubt that Titan A can even be compared to Galaxy Class; simply because both Sovereign and Galaxy have and can have bigger weapons than Titan A.

Uh...ok.

Even the Female Changeling - the leader of the Dominion - could do no better than Odo when it came to humanoid faces. Clearly it was an enormous hurdle for their morphogenic matrix to overcome.

Yes, she could. The Changelings chose to look like Odo on purpose, not because they had no choice. The Female Changeling impersonated Kira once (perfectly.) She has plenty of skills when she wants to.

Ro's original one wasn't a data chip

Which had to happen before the neighbors invent telescopes :D

I also first thought they shouldn't have future tech, but then it occurred to me that it's been a while since they got the mobile emitter, it was studied since they came home, and it was never stated when the thing was invented, only that they had it in the 29th century. So it could've been invented just a few years later :D

It was just odd that he only looked at one of them while talking to both :D

But do you need crime for utopia to exist? Can there only be utopia when you also have crime? That made no sense to me.

IDIC in fact would include everything, any type of criminal, any type of anything

At least 1 or 2 also accompany the F in the trailers.

The mobile emitter has the same origin as transparent aluminum then. ;)
“How do we know the guy didn’t invent it, Captain?”

In the sense that a Utopia cannot exist without something to contrast it to to define it as a Utopia, I assume.

Mysteries can be very effective. Lots of stories withhold information to keep you guessing.

I get it. You're not liking this one. That's your prerogative. But so far I'm loving it and enjoying the mystery. And they're actually revealing information pretty quickly after introducing a mystery. So, they're not dragging their feet.

Of course, liking it or not is a subjective call for both of us. We're both entitled to our opinions.

Yeah, you can jump the gun and prejudge it now. Sure go ahead. Have fun with that. No skin off my teeth if you've predetermined that the mystery is bad.

But it makes you look like this --> :brickwall: ("It will be bad! It will be bad! It will be bad! . . .")

The Intrepid's photon torpedoes narrowly missing the Titan-A reminded me of just how close the 1701-E torpedoes came to hitting Cochrane's Phoenix.

It reminded me of that too, but I feel like the Phoenix version was more compelling because it was so close. The Intrepid's torpedoes seemed to be traveling conveniently slower, but perhaps that's just me. ;)

Hot take: it never will exist.
3 or 4 years ago, there were 3 TV shows called Utopia airing simultaneously.

An Australian Political comedy.

Can a Distopia ever exist?

I prefer what Ben Sisko callls Earth in "The Maquis" two-parter. Paradise. You can have paradise and still have some messed up stuff going on since paradise is in the eye of the beholder and just has to have a lot more going for it than things that detract from the location. Utopia by definition is the ultimate expression of no crime, no sorrow, no sickness and no exploitation. Virtual perfection. And that just isn't going to happen.
