Fantastic episode 9/10 for me.

I’m just really blown away how good the show has been thru 5 episodes. I really cannot wait for next week.

The Ro/Picard stuff was fantastic. I happened to catch Preemptive Strike on BBCA this afternoon so it really worked with that episode being fresh in mind.

Loved that her earring was where she hid her stuff. Complete with the nice little Easter Egg questioning the early decommissioning of the E-F.

Forget a Titan series. Gimme the buddy cop series with Worf and Raffi. LOVED when they cranked up the old Klingon theme when he started fighting her one handed.

A evil Vulcan gangster seems…weird when it would have been so easy to make him a Romulan.

Shaw is such a fantastic asshole. The comparisons to House are very spot on. If they do give us a Titan series he needs to stay on as Captain.

and the Jack stuff…

maybe it’s because of that closed captioning thing from last week but all I could hear was Suzanna Thompsons version of the Queen speaking. An alliance between the OG Borg and rogue changlings and Jack is somehow the key to perfection?

I’d be down but I kind of think he needs to be a little contrite to Seven, Picard, and Riker because they’ve been right about everything, except maybe their methods.
Seven, Picard and Riker weren't right about anything and since everything they did was their methods... yeah. They didn't know there was a Changeling conspiracy. It was just a happy accident for them that one was connected with Jack Crusher, but they didn't hijack the Titan knowing it had a changeling aboard and trying to root him out.

Some quick drive by thoughts:

SO good to see Ro return in a very affecting way. Smart not to go for the low hanging fruit and make her a changeling.

I think people like Shaw because we don’t often see characters like him in Trek. I see a lot of people calling for a Titan show with him. I’d be down but I kind of think he needs to be a little contrite to Seven, Picard, and Riker because they’ve been right about everything, except maybe their methods.

I don't hate him. I just don't find him all that compelling, and so would be reluctant to see him as a lead. He seems too churlish to me. A clever jab is great. I do like his irreverence. But Shaw takes things to a step too far. Maybe if he didn't feel like he wants to be an asshole but also tries to appear deep.

I do like characters who challenge characters' views of themselves, especially if it also challenges the audience's fannish reactions. I actually think Captain Jellico was a good captain, and personable, but people were too "muh Riker" to see what an insubordinate ass Will was being and so he has this "bad captain" idea attached. And Shaw does have some good aspects as a captain. Telling the crew to get rest in that no-nonsense way was pretty refreshing, actually.

This'll sound horrible, but I don't care: I think Prinn needs a Gangsta Rap video.

Also, I didn't mention this earlier, but I loved the fake-out that was Worf's "death". He's a better warrior than ever.

Those were 100 years ago and one offs and many wanted to be left alone. Q was a threat to humanity who threatened to destroy them at least twice.

Point I was alluding to, is that every ship meets a dozen different gods.

Thousands of ships, times dozens of gods, divided by 300 years.

Holy crap, what a season...! Why on earth, while Sir Patrick is still vital enough, would there not be a season 4, with as fantastic as this one is shaping up... The entire Ro/Picard conflict/resolution was fantastic, and the earring turning out to be not some nostalgic symbolism, but an actual thumb drive was a welcome twist. Worf and Raffi have a very good dynamic, and this week's baddie in Vulcan form was well acted. Worf sure has a hard head, jeez... wish they would've mentioned the redundant internal Klingon organs as what cinched the "death" scene, but nitpicking. Ro's heroic ending was a fitting end to her character, and I'm happy Michelle Forbes revived her role one last time. Good as Kira was on DS9, and she was, I had a crush long ago on Ensign Ro to be sure... Jack's story line is proving very interesting, as is the changeling infiltration. Minor quibble: Why did the Intrepid allow Ro's shuttle to slam into the nacelle if they already were trying to kill her... a phaser shot and problem solved. Can't let that be a demerit from a solid 10 rating though... Fantastic.

Why did the Intrepid let Ro go AT ALL? Why not send a changeling? Simple answer: there are a bunch of changelings aboard, but the ship isn't completely under their control. And/or the changelings aboard wanted an excuse to blow the Titan out of the stars. "They sent a changeling to crash a shuttle into our ship, we had to defend ourselves!"

Remember, the conspiracy is big and has a lot of implied power, but they don't run all of SF or all of every ship. So they'd still need to dress up their malfeasance at least a little to hide it from the regular officers until whatever they are trying to accomplish is done.

They may also be trying to make Ro's death look like an accident too. Like Garak killing Vreenak

Confirmation bias is associated with selective memory... so its not an inaccurate statement on my part.
But, putting that aside, and given what we know transpired in Insurrection, Shaw was wrong. But Picard also never bothered to correct him on that 'little' inconsistency... so the writers are in a way giving a silent 'affirmation' that Shaw was correct (when in fact he wasn't).
Or Picard is just going "let him get it out his system, he is clearly fecked off" rather than having to correct him and start an arguement over semantics.

"severe emotional imbalance and ptsd"? I have news for you, there are plenty of people with ptsd who are in positions of power. While he definitely seems to have ptsd - I don't see him as severely emotionally imbalanced - he is angry and a dick, so what? Is every person who shows anger severely emotionally imbalanced?
I assumed she was speaking of his ptsd - if starfleet thought he was severely emotionally disturbed, I doubt they would let him remain a captain.
"Given your official psychological profile with Starfleet I'm so glad that you've remained... functional"

The phaser that the Vulcan used was originally designed as a Vulcan weapon in DS9, but never got used as well, instead just used as generic (usually Ferengi) weapon.

Did you even pay attention to the dialogue? Beverly explains it in the episode, holy shit. These are not the same changelings from DS9.

Did you even pay attention to my post? I'm not talking about the NEW changelings. I'm talking about how Riker (and the writers) completely misunderstood how OLD changelings worked, back during the time of the war.

Riker says changelings "don't mimic someone's internal physiology." Which is, of course, dead wrong. That was what I was talking about. As I clarified already.
