If my devices aren't sparking, how am I to know there's power flowing through them?

you know as i was rewatching this episode, I was drawn to what Pike was saying about how sitting out the war took its toll on the crew of the Enterprise and himself, and it makes me wonder how the crews of both the Enterprise-E and Voyager felt sitting out the Dominion war. (Granted Voyager was still on its way home from the DQ but i'm sure they felt something about it post-Endgame.)

Is there any proof that the Enterprise wasn't involved in the war?

Granted, we never saw it fight, but it doesn't mean they didn't.

I meant the Enterprise-E and the Dominion war. Should have been more clear on that point.

It's technically not canon but Ron Moore used to do a Q&A online in the late-'90s where he'd answer questions about what was happening next on DS9. At one point someone asked him about the Enterprise-E and Ron Moore said that the Enterprise was involved but just not in their neck of the woods.

Again, not canon but the DS9 writers' intent.

I can't remember, did DSC say that all Constitution-class ships were kept out of the war, or just the Enterprise?

They didn't say. But as soon as I heard that, I immediately thought about the Farragut. It stands to reason Kirk might've been out-and-about too. Which makes all the arguments here about how "Kirk would remember the war!" and me arguing one way, and others arguing another way, all for naught. Goes with the territory of posting on TrekBBS, I guess.

I imagine Kirk would be just as pissed about being kept out of the war as Pike was.

If DSC does an episode about the Farragut disaster (side note: Jimmy Bennett, from ST09, as Lieutenant Kirk. I totally called it), we might find out...

The Farragut doesn't have a canon class.

People just assume it was a Connie because it was the only ship class ever seen in TOS, and I think most, if not all non-canon material call it a connie.

Bennett gotten himself into quite a spec of trouble. so don't count on that casting.

That would be terribly bad casting. Aside from all the trouble he's in, amusingly he looks more like Spock now than STD's Speck.

I can see a slight resemblance to Quinto's Spock if I squint. Otherwise, nope.

regardless of Kirk, I do know i wouldn't mind seeing one Dr. Leonard "Bones" McCoy pop up on the Discovery especially since he would be fresh off his relationship with the future Nancy Crater.

I rather they pick the best actor for the role based on performance than looks. Chris Pine doesn't look like Shatner to me, but he exudes the right kind of swagger Kirk is known for.
