I think it's supposed to be a gag. I was chuckling myself.I could do with a little less editorializing from the food slots, although I guess it makes it easier to diet when the thing giving you nourishment also nags you.

Oh, it totally made me laugh.I think it's supposed to be a gag. I was chuckling myself.
Agreed. I'd be having conversations with the food dispenser along the lines of "...if I wanna have ice cream and Doritos for dinner I'll do it without your f'ing input."I could do with a little less editorializing from the food slots, although I guess it makes it easier to diet when the thing giving you nourishment also nags you.
Is it wrong that Spock's mom is hot?
I think Lorca is trying to atone for the loss of his past ship, not as bad a person as he initially was portrayed.
Is anyone else having troubles with the stream?
The Vulcan Expeditionary Group may be a bunch of sticks in the mud, but at least they give you your plomeek soup in silence. If I wanted my food synthesizer slots to provide advertising along with the meals themselves, I'd go to some other space exploration service.
I understand that. His dialogue with Cornwell, as I noted, was generally great (although the actress he was in the scenes with, not so much). But in general his attitude towards Burnham in this episode broke my immersion and made me realize I was watching a show, and that Lorca sided with Burnham for the reason of the overarching plot.
Not to mention we know he's been a dick to much of his crew (including Stamets) in the past, so the warm treatment he's now giving Burnham (and Tyler) seems to come out of nowhere.
Not bad, desperate. That ship is all he has. He's like a dying man gasping for an extra breath.- I am really bummed that they're making Lorca a bad guy. He sent that admiral deliberately to get rid of her.
- I mean really, the only likeable ones were Lorca and Burnham. Stamets is a bit of a dick (but I like him), Saru too (ditto), and now Lorca is a villain. I don't care about Miss Special Perkypants.
Racism is never logical, but it can even be found amongst those who believe themselves quite advanced.- Sarek. Not father of the year to be sure. But he got a raw deal. Why would the Vulcan make him choice only one? Where's the fucking logic in that?
When he saved Burnham from the bombing, some his katra became a part of her, so he was calling her without meaning to call her. It's like a broadcast signal to anyone with the proper equipment to pick it up.- Not buying the katra connection. It's like Burnham's his WIFE, not his adopted daughter. Why would he die and reach out to her and NOT Amanda, with whom he's bonded?
...

Seemed pretty Vulcan to me. Their kids were probably the ones tormenting Spock in Yesteryear.-The Vulcans are more Romulan than Vulcan. They're assholes like they were in ST: Enterprise
They're racist. This is not news. They see "Not quite Vulcans" as a liability.- Sarek. Not father of the year to be sure. But he got a raw deal. Why would the Vulcan make him choice only one? Where's the fucking logic in that?
Maybe she was getting a message too.- Not buying the katra connection. It's like Burnham's his WIFE, not his adopted daughter. Why would he die and reach out to her and NOT Amanda, with whom he's bonded?
Yes. I got booted off. Was not happy. It had issues before that. This was the first ep that gave me problems. It's bullshit. Cable never drops unless some contractor accidentally cuts a cable while digging.
- Don't trush Ash. Do NOT want to see a romance between him and Burnham.

I’m thinking that’s Starfleet’s half-assed, pacifistic war-footing. “We need everyone to be in top physical condition, so from now on, the food slots will only dispense precisely calibrated synthetic foods matched exactly to each crewmember’s energy and nutritional requirements!”I could do with a little less editorializing from the food slots, although I guess it makes it easier to diet when the thing giving you nourishment also nags you.
The episode has been really good but the streaming alone is pissing me off. Hope they get it fixed by next week.

That's so fucking cool.Mind you, they dodged a bullet with Spock.
