The wings perhaps but I don't think the way the nose part curves is coincidental nor the whole aft part or the top and bottom.
Only the hull's detail is different.

For these I could easily find their predating anime equivalent, too, although less resembling. More than half seen in the past 20 years of scifi shows/movies have their near exact likeness in anime, real life or other sources:

    etc.

Being wise doesn't protect you from being stupid so why should this be any different?

I always thought racism was illogical.

Vulcans appear to be so arrogant that they can rationalize any kind of distasteful behavior with logic.

Is that a racist statement for me to make? Hmmm... Paradoxical...

Okay, file this under "Obscure Things to Gripe About," but when Lorca & Cornwell were about to get cozy, why did the admiral first remove her Starfleet insignia if she was just going to take her jacket off anyway? That doesn't make any sense to me. Later, after Lorca pulls a phaser out and nearly chokes her, she has to put her jacket on, and then the insignia again. Why???

^It's symbolism. Like a sheriff taking off his badge if he's going to do something out of character to his office.

^ Yeah, but the sheriff isn't going to strip to his undies before he goes off to murder someone, or whatever. It just seemed to be redundant to me for Cornwell to remove her badge if she was going to remove the jacket right after it anyway.

Back when The Plan came out, I had a buddy who was super into writing and literary analysis on the side (his day job was as a programmer). He had this whole thing worked out about the kid that Cavill was hanging out with and how the Apple symbolized the kid being a Head!Character version of Cavill's kid self and etc etc something about the knife that Cavill used to stab the kid being him murdering his own innocence, and he rounded it all off with how pleased he was that the folks running the show would put so much symbolism in for fans to uncover. He was so upset when I told him Moore had done a commentary where he said the kid was just some kid Cavill ran into and a lot of that other stuff was just things they threw in because it was interesting.

Yep, just more confirmation how NuBSG was a lot emptier than everyone thought it was. :sigh:

I sincerely hope DISCO actually has some real mysteries and subtext and not just random junk thrown in there to look and sound "kewl". So far, I think it's been pretty well done. A few problems and glitches, here and there, sure - what production doesn't have those? But by no means has it been the dumpster fire that some people have hoped and/or feared it would be. Very glad it's been renewed for S2.

For a certain definition of "empty" I suppose. It kept a tight focus for most of its run on the characters and their reactions to living in a reality that gave no fucks about them and that was constantly pulling the rug out from under their lives. Having no consistent subtext is a strength in that case.
