So how much does having a nice body impact female starfleet personnel?

Re: So how much does having a nice body impact female starfleet person

So, any cadet (meaning no personal relationship with Spock) could have approached Spock in the shuttle bay and obtained a reassignment?

Of course not, Uhura got moved by talking to her lover.

:)

Good grief. Are you implying that Uhura did not deserve to be assigned to the Enterprise, and that her only qualification was her sexual relationship with Spock?

Why the Enterprise as opposed to another ship? Uhura was qualified to be stationed down in the bowels of any of the ships leaving for Vulcan that day.

Her sexual relationship with Spock is what got her moved to the ship she wished to be on, as opposed to the ship she didn't wished to be on.

:)

She was assigned to the Enterprise first.

^True. She was assigned to the Enterprise, and Spock moved her to another ship. She went to him and asked why, citing her qualifications for receiving the posting to Enterprise. He said he didn't think it appropriate she be assigned the ship he was on. She informed him she deserved to be on the ship she had earned the posting to. He agreed, and put her back on Enterprise's staff.

Exactly. She was qualified, with her relationship with Spock having nothing do with her qualifications. Spock was trying make sure it didn't look like he was putting his girlfriend on the best ship because of their relationship.

And she called him on it. Logically, she should be on Enterprise. Spock let his emotions place her on another ship to make it seem like his emotions were not part of her being assigned to Enterprise. His logic failed and Uhura called him on it. He posted her back to Enterprise were her top scores would naturally place her. On the fleet flagship/newest ship in the fleet.

Her skills were proven the same day when she got assigned to take over the bridge assignment as the person originally assigned there could not translate Romulan, much less all dialects of the language as Uhura could.

I think he was hoping she'd "get the message".

Re: So how much does having a nice body impact female starfleet person

I saw three things from that scene.

1. Spock did it to please his girlfriend. 30%

2. He decided she was being logical. 30%

3. He did it to-shut-his girlfriend- up. 40%

Which is probably why it isn't wise to be banging one of the students who is either directly or indirectly under your influence.
