Thanks, guys. :)
Congratulations on the new job TSQ! I love your drawing as well. I hope my hubby takes a page out of your book and starts to paint/draw again when this transition period we are in is over.

Enjoy the new job!
I'm LOVING the new job. :)

Wow, terrific b&w artwork TSQ! I'm impressed to say the very least...you're pretty talented! I'd love to see other drawings you've done if you still have and feel like sharing them!
I've posted a few over the years, and paintings too.

I'd love to see tsq try her hand at writing a graphic novel or some such thing. I think she could do rather well at it! :techman:
I've often thought of it, and even have the idea for a story. The traditional novel came out first, though.

*fans self* I do declare! This flowah is wiltin'!

A slightly belated congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Flux! I love your cake. :)

TSQ, congratulations on your new job, and your drawing is awesome. I'm always envious of people who can draw. I can't do proportional stick people.

After and exceptionally dry winter we've had the wettest April since 1910. This was the River Exe, on the outskirts of the city of Exeter in southwest England, this afternoon.

At first glance it may not look that bad, but do you see the concrete ledge on either side of the river? Below those ledges are 3 or 4 deep steps and, below that, a pedestrian and cycle path which is hardly ever flooded. In the 6 years we've lived here I've never seen the river so high. The surrounding area is safe from flooding, though. After the last bad flood in 1960 those embankments you can see were made, and the river's never yet come close to the top of them. Just to the left of the photo is a pub which has been there for generations. It was badly flooded in 1960, and by the bar is a wonderful photo of an elderly lady crossing the flooded street on a wooden plank to get to the door of the pub. No gushing torrent was going to stand between her and her G&T!

(A Doug Clement Photo).

A sunset off the Victoria Breakwater, that was posted on a Facebook page for Victoria BC.
Sometimes makes me remember what a nice part of the world I live in.

Hey, thanks for posting! I haven't had the chance to go and look at the river, but everyone's saying it's the highest they've ever seen (apart from the old timers who remember the flood!)

^Hope you stayed loyal to the trekdom and this forsaken board, and had a ball signed by Buck Bokai on the head table ;)

The pictures look great

Those are some of the nicest wedding photos I've seen in years, Flux. Thanks again for sharing 'em!

We got this Lilac bush/tree as a present from my wife's brother and sister-in-law for the birth of our second son, Aaron. I immediately planted it in out backyard. I wasn't sure if it was going to survive, didn't look like it was growing and never bloomed in its first year. Now with Aaron almost to his second birthday it has bloomed. Aaron's birthday is May 6th, so it will be nice to have it bloom for his birthday.

I love lilacs. We have three different types on our property. The give off such a wonderful aroma. Only one tree has bloomed this year (so far), but the entire yard smells like lilacs. Love it.

Thankfully we didn't get the rain today that had been predicted, and when I drove over the Exe Bridges this evening the top two steps were exposed, so the river has dropped slightly. It's still moving at an angry pace, though.

I'm assuming you live on the other side of the city from me, as I have to cross the river to get into town and therefore see it almost daily.

I do, but work in town, though. I wandered down to the river in my lunch hour to see the swans swimming up the paths on the Quay!

Beautiful lilac, Tom. We planted ours a little over a year ago so its about the exact same size. We are really hoping it blooms this year.

Flux, congratulations on your wedding, your beautiful bride, and your new life together! :)

The lilac is gorgeous. I took the train to Philly last Friday for a math conference, and have never seen so much lilac in my life. It was stunning; purple trees everywhere. Sometimes I wish I had a garden. At the moment I make do with a window sill.
