Major League Baseball 2009

That would be nice. MLB.TV is included in the membership package I have as a "benefit", and a reason to justify the high cost. It would be nice if I could at least USE it on the couple of occasions during the year when i actually NEED the stupid service, as I can't get to a TV, or am outside the NESN broadcast area (or somewhere, god forbid, with no cable).

Works decently well, if you're not in an area that is deemed 'blacked out' of a local market. I.E. if you aren't trying to follow the local team with it you're golden.

MLB.TV blacks out the Royals in my area, but that wouldn't be a problem (if I was a Royals fan) since FSN shows most Royals games anyway.

That's the idea. If you wanted to follow a NON-local team, this would be just the thing. It's just useless for trying to follow a team in your broadcast area. A non-issue if you were going to follow the Mets or Yankees, though...

Well Paul "HGH" Bird is only 15 pitches into the game and already imploding. Guess the Sox magic number will only decrease with a Texas loss.

Well what did you expect...Grienke vs. Byrd.....ah...no.
I wasn't expecting Byrd to give up five runs in the top of the first, that's for sure!

EDIT: And it's over. Can Byrd re-retire now, please?

I dont know but what I do know is that the yankees went from 5-0 to 5-3 with bases loaded and 1 out

5-4 now...

Hey atleast you are blowing it to the Angels, a good team, and not the godforsaken Royals.

Yeah I guess. The flipside though is that I could be sleeping right now but instead im watching them blow it  I mean seriously, ONE game. Cant they at least do that much?

EDIT: Well, the Yanks pulled that one from the fire and are heading to the post season

ESPN has the worst baseball-related ideas. After the rainy WS last year they suggested a neutral site for the championship - don't even get me started on how awful this idea is. Now they're saying since all of the playoff races are boring this year they should let two more teams into the playoffs by adding another wild card spot to each league. This one is slightly less horrible, but are they serious???

The Yanks officially clinched. Phils are nearly there.

How about this idea. Not starting the season so late so we don't have the worry about games being played in November. I guess we can blame the WBC for that, but this schedule is so freaking long.

Now wait just a Geno's Steaks minute here...how exactly would that work, two wild cards? I mean, in the division series you've got the winners of east, central and west, plus wildcard. That's two games of two teams each. If there's another wildcard, that's an odd number of teams, so who plays who?

Don't dilute the system anymore. 5 teams per league makes no sense. What, does one team wait for a best of 3 between 4 vs. 5 to determine the wild card winner?

If you go to 6, it ends up like the NFL, with bye teams. Which doesn't translate well, as baseball is played daily with a day off here and there.

Leave it the way it is. Tinker with it enough and you get the NHL or NBA where half or more of the teams make it. the playoffs last forever, and the regular season is meaningless.

The Rockies better get their bullpen figured out. Franky Morales almost blew another one last night.

I almost had to go change my shorts after that one. The good news is Street had a nice outing, even though he only faced two hitters, so hopefully he's healed up. Looks like Cook will be back sometime this week too.
