Major League Baseball 2009

Let's try approaching this from a different angle, and maybe without the hostility, ok?

It's 7:30pm on a Tuesday during the season, which game are you watching? You live and die with these teams, so you ARE watching one of them, right? And don't say flipping back and forth, because that dilutes both of them, and leans towards casual fan of both. Even if you're flipping back and forth, you're watching one or the other more, so...?

No, actually, in that case (i.e. Mets and Yankees games being on at the same time) I would watch all of both games. Thanks to my trusty DVR. My *dual tuner* DVR, you understand. ;)
How many Yankees games have you watched, on TV or in person, this season?

How many for the Mets?

All of them. All that were broadcast, anyway.

The AL Central is tightening up. If the Twins win today, they'll only be one game back. Sure wish today's game didn't overlap with football- I'm either going to have to do a lot of channel switching today or head down to the bar so I can watch multiple games at the same time.

If the Tigers avoid the sweep today, their lead goes back to 3 games, and the weekend won't have been all that bad for them. But if they lose, look out. With Robertson pitching, I'm not sure Detroit does win today.

The Twins have all the momentum, and the Tigers are searching for answers.

I can't believe you watched all of the Yankees and Mets games. I watched about 90 Braves games and barely had time to do anything else. That's six hours of TV a day if both teams play.

I did say all of them that were *broadcast*. That's not all of the games. I don't live in New York, so I can't get YES or SNY. So I have to make do with what MLB Network, ESPN, etc. feel like showing.

In person? I was in New York for a total of three weeks vacation this year. Every day that they had a game, I was there. Fortunately the two teams didn't usually play on the same day. :)

So, instead of saying "all of them", wouldn't that make the answer closer to 20-30? Out of (roughly) 285 potential games? You "live and die" with both teams, but didn't get the package (through cable, satellite, or MLB.TV) to watch all of your teams' games?

Ah. I just assumed you lived in the NY market.

Just as an example of living and dying with a team (more or less), I've watched pretty much EVERY red sox game this year. The ones I haven't watched, I've listed to on the radio in the car. Or watched using the stupid gamecast thing on ESPN. Or even just used my iphone to go all OCD and update the score every few seconds.

Doesn't really do much if you only catch your team when they're the ESPN game, or Fox..

Not all of the games are available through my cable provider; I refuse to get satellite; and MLB.TV is not an option, because who wants to sit at a computer for three hours? (It would help if MLB.TV offered a one-time demo so I could check it out before deciding to blow perfectly good money on something that may or may not work.)

It would be well worth it to get MLB.TV and watch on your TV. The picture is phenomenal.

MLB.TV is reliable, is it? Not likely to break down? It does seem to require a fair amount of extra software installed. I guess I'm lucky it's even Mac/Safari compatible.

Price seems okay ($20 a year - at least I hope it's per year, that's what the site says anyway) but as I said I wish they would offer one free game so I could check it out first to make sure it works. $20 is still $20.

Why wouldn't you do it? You'll never have a game blacked out because you're not in an MLB market.

Don't eat out for a week and you've covered the fee.

For a die hard fan, this would be a no brainer. If I weren't in an MLB market and impacted by blackout rules, I'd get this for the rest of the season to watch the Rockies.

I'm also a guy who will listen to the Avalanche on NHL.com every chance I get.

Big win by the Tigers today. I was not confident in Robertson at all, but he gets the win. The AL Central lead is at 3 games. Thats down from 5, but better than being swept. Hooray for the most exciting division race in baseball.

I've been Googling on this for awhile now. Seems that there are a lot of reports of choppy playback, unreliable connections, abysmal customer service, etc.

Plus I'm getting conflicting reports as to whether it's $20 for the whole *year*, or per month - I suspect it might be per month, as $20 for a whole year just seems a bit 'too good', if you know what I mean.

The Sox win again...look out Joe Girardi...the Sox are only 5 games out....

How I would love to steal the division from underneath the Yanks. That would be grand.

Rockies win again. Going home for 9 games and then 3 against the Dodgers that may or may not have any significance.

That hurt. I was rooting for the Lions, though.

Baseball or football: Every game I watched went ass-backwards of what I wanted.
