Well, let's give credit where credit is due.

Lackey pitched one hell of a game last night. He gave up 4 singles in 7+, and shut out the Red Sox for the first time in postseason since 1995.

:techman:

No, no don't get me wrong Lackey was great. Good offspeed stuff, and his command was good minus that little hiccup in the 6th...

Hopefully Beckett gets on his game tonight...

Beckett's a monster. Weaver's no slouch though.

I would really love to go to Boston up 2-0. I want this overwith!!

Martinez is starting Saturday for the Phils. :vulcan:

At least this one I should be able to watch.

Beckett is a monster that feeds off of adversity.

I think the Twins just blew their chance at the ALCS.

The Twins didnt go down without a fight though. That was definitely one hell of a game. It kept me on the edge of my seat the whole time

My dream LCS would be Twins/Angels and Rockies/Cardinals with Twins/Rockies in the WS. odds are 0.01% that will happen.
That's what I'd like to see as well, but like you said, the odds don't favor that happening.

Ended up paying $380 for two $30 tickets, but we have tickets for Sunday's Twins game. Sucks that the brokers always seem to get through to the ticket office before regular folks do- I hate being gouged like that.

That's against the law in MA to mark up more than 10%. However if you really want the tickets you don't say anything.

However $380 is about how much you will pay for a regular season Red Sox game.

I hate the Twins and the Yankees. But damn did the Twins get hosed on that foul ball call. Given that the ump had the angle and was all of 15 feet away my only conclusion can be that the fix was in. Mind numbingly obvious even live as it happened.

THE TEIXECUTIONER!!!!!!!! :techman:
I wouldn't get so excited. A freaking pop up to second anywhere else turns into a home run in that ballpark.
Yep, thats one of those things that works both ways ;)

And who the hell cares about "anywhere else", anyway? All that matters is where you're playing the game right then - the HERE and NOW. :)

As for bad calls - meh. How about Carlos Gomez and his almost-but-not-quite-Ruben-Rivera level of base running? ;)

I have to say, though, a World Series between Colorado and New York would at least be entertaining. Home runs in every at bat! Whoo!

It shouldn't have been as close as it was, but the umps and refs in other sports can only really affect the game when it is close. Having said that, I think the game was fixed.

I mean, the replay clearly shows the umpire looking *right at* the damn ball, which was fair under two seperate rules (it hit the fielder's glove and it hit the ground in fair ground). He was just a few feet away and it wasn't close to the line, not anywhere close enough that it should have even occurred to him to call it foul.

I think the Twins should demand a new umpiring crew for Sunday's game or refuse to take the field. Better to forfeit than to participate in a lie.

Still, it's probably time for the Twins to let Carlos Gomez spend a year in the minors learning how to actually play baseball so he can use that natural talent. May be time to dump Joe Nathan, too. Both he and Justin "Four-Month" Morneau are massive choke artists when the games actually mean something.

Beckett's done. Complete implosion.

I have no confidence in Buchholz Sunday, so looks like the Angels might finally proceed past the ALDS. Then again, maybe Buchholz and Dice-K will bring their A-game to counterbalance poor performances from Lester and Beckett.

The Angels still have history working against them. They've never advanced in the playoffs when winning the first game of a series.

Until the last out is made, this team is winning the World Series...

Lets get home, get the offense rolling, get some wins, and get it back to LA...

Lets do this.:klingon:

It was a fair trade-off, the plate umpire missed a lot of strike calls for the Yankees. Terrible game for the umpires.

RAMA

In the end, the umps can't win or lose the game. Only the players can do that. If the Twins lost, it's their own damn fault. They had the lead and they blew it, pure and simple.

The most exciting World Series on the east coast would be Phillies and Yankees. The ratings stretching across 4-5 densely populated states would probably give it high ratings alone.

I think the best teams were the Yankees and St Louis...and those two would have been the most exciting for me...with the big name players on both teams--A-rod and Pujols being the best 2 players in the league--and the fact that they are the two most successful championship teams of MLB history. Sadly it seems St Louis doesn't match up well with the Dodgers.

So help me I almost wish we'd get a Colorado-Minnesota World Series, just because that would likely be a ratings nightmare for the networks.
