Major League Baseball 2009

Wow, what a game! It was even on at a normal hour!

For all the people where baseball was pretty meaningless for them in September, this was a great game to reel us back in.

I thought both teams had it won several times.

Completely agreed on all counts!

The one thing I am disappointed in with the Twins winning is that there'll be games played in "The Baggie".

^Yeah, it doesn't look like a baseball cathedral, but its nice to see a stadium go out on a playoff run.

And as a fan of a team that just left a pit (Shea Stadium), there's the "It's a dump, but it's our dump mentality."

They'll lose some of their homefield advantage next year.

Sucks though, that unless the Twins can force a Game 5, they'll end up losing their last ever game in the Metrodome...

^
Actually, the baseball team does have their own facility--albeit not a very nice one. They only play in the Dome early in the year to avoid weather issues.

They also play high school games there. Though, as I understand it, the Vikings are trying to rid the Dome of baseball altogether so they can renovate it as they see fit.

^ Actually the Vikings want a completely new stadium, just like the Twins are getting. The Metrodump is a fairly decent place to play football, I grant that, but the Vikings will still have the same problem as the Twins did: They get NO money from luxury box sales, and only a small percentage of concessions sales. The terms of their lease are really screwing them over. So the Vikings want to tear down the Dump and build a new stadium in its place.

But they have come to realize that a stadium isn't happening anytime soon and they probably won't be able to move the team, so they've resigned to just renovating the Dome.

Part of the money came from the new "Mall of America Field" naming rights and it seems as if the state as acquiesced to a small check for 2010 or 11. They're going to add seats, redo the concourse, and add a few luxury boxes. And probably a new paint job.

Well, as I said, the Vikings are trying to kick them out and all of this depends on whether they're successful at doing so. They argue there are other places around town the Gophers can play and, while there are, they really aren't up to snuff.

Well, you know, between the 2007 playoffs and this year there was a year known as 2008 in which the Phillies won the World Series...so I don't know why there would be the expectation for the Rockies to sweep just because it happened two years ago.

I missed most of the game because of school stuff. Stupid afternoon games.

I'm sorry, the Yankees already won the second game? That's amazing!

Did I miss something? Games 1 and 2 are at Yankee Stadium, games 3 and 4 at the metrodome. While they could technically win the series, I can't see it happening, the Yankees are just a much better team. Way I see it, they either force game 5, or they lose their last game in the Metrodome...

Yankees won game 1, so i'm on my way to being right...
