Major League Baseball 2009

Or maybe there's more to updating the channel guide than you think and it's not something that can be done with the flip of a switch or push of a button.

What's the worst thing that happens if TBS doesn't show the game (and if MLB.com says they are, there's a greater than zero chance it will be on)? You've got 4 hours of Friends that you delete with the push of a button.

I find that unlikely, since there's been other times where I've seen the guide updated rather quickly. Happened just last week, in fact, where a Saturday rerun of Law & Order was scheduled, then suddenly replaced by Mercy.

Yeah, I suppose so.

I'll explain why all the transportation systems suck in Massachusetts...

Fucking Big Dig.

You'd prefer the old Central Artery? :wtf: If that still existed, there would be continuous, 100% gridlock 24/7.

Ah well. I'm still trying to search TBS' website for the tiebreaker game - they don't have it listed. I hope they will broadcast the game like they said they would!

I prefer my 20 billion dollars to be spent on the whole fucking state and not a disaster of a tunnel and road system.

Plus it helped Boston traffic by fucking over all the towns around Boston, and wasted 20 billion dollars!

For 20 billion the Yankees could have built 3 stadiums! :p

Whatever the Big Dig's troubles may be, the old Artery was worse.

At least you grant the possibility that the Yankees aren't the only ones who spend a lot of money... :p

Be interesting to see what happens if -- when -- Fenway eventually needs to be replaced. (I'm not saying it does, but it must happen someday. No building lasts forever, not even this one.)

Fenway has been redone so much that the owners think the stadium can live another 40-60 years before needing major work again. It's a nice stadium, but if we go 15 years it looks nothing like it does now. I think I went in 1995ish and Fenway Park looked like a run down mill. Now it's all nice and clean.

Yeah, I sure as hell don't miss the puke-green elevated sections of I-93.

I sure do miss the $20+ billion... :p

As much of a Yankee fan as I am, even I thought Fenway was really cool. I had a great time there. I wish I could go back.

Despite what you people think of me, I'm not always obsessed with new ballparks. Only when the old one obviously sucks and needs to be replaced (such as the Oakland Coliseum and the Trop). Fenway is neither of those. I expect it to be around for a long time yet. But it won't last forever, even with all the remodeling in the world. Someday, somehow, there will be a new Sox park. It may take ten years, twenty, or a hundred. I wonder, though, how Sox fans will react once that day comes. Will they absolutely refuse to accept a replacement under *any* circumstances? (Same goes for Cubs fans and Wrigley)

Man, all that talk about the lack of drama leading up to the postseason, and we have a divisional one game playoff. Yet almost no-one is talking about it. Part of that is probably due to the mediocrity of the AL Central, but I'm still surprised by the lack of buzz.

If this was the AL East, and the Yankees and Red Sox were involved, I'm guessing we'd be hearing more about it.

Like Yankee Stadium. :p

I don't think there will ever be a new stadium, unless it hovers over the old stadium.

They tried in 1996-1998 before selling the team, it was a nice idea in theory but really dumb in reality. They would have to knock down like half of Fenway (the Boston neighborhood) and just a real dumb idea.

Then another idea was to move it to the south end, it's Fenway Park, not South End Park.

I think what they will do, which is what they pretty much did now, is just cover the old one with something new that you can't even tell it was old.

wasn't around for that incident (and I was too young to remember Buckner), so instead I get to bitch about "Aaron Fuckin' Boone."

Boone was even better! That one actually won the game right there. His first at-bat and he hits a home run. How cool is that...

(Side note: Is it just me or does Boone look exactly like Connor Trinneer?)

As for Buckner, meh. All he did was force a game 7 in '86. He didn't lose the series, the whole team did.

Fucking Big Dig.

All I remember is that I got on the train block and blocks away from Fenway Park, and when I got back on it to go back to where we parked it was packed! It was also free.

That's not done yet? I was there in the late 90s and they were still in the middle of it. Are they almost done?

Urge to kill...rising... :klingon:

Eh, they didn't win the WS that year, due to one Mr. Josh Beckett, so Boone doesn't kill me as much as others...

Still sucked tho.

It's so poorly built that it will never be done. Plus because all the money went to the Big Dig in the last 20 years all the other bridges in the state will be falling down soon.

Someone once said that they could have paved all the roads in the state with an inch of gold with the money wasted. Gold was like half the price it is now. :)

Go Random Team!

I promised my friend I would cheer for the Cardinals...
 That's kind of where I'm at too. I'm cheering for any team that can beat the Yankees, if the Tigers get eliminated by them.

All I have to say is this... (no offense to any Yankee fans) Go Away Yankees!!

I'm tired of the Tigers having to face them every time that they go into the early finals...

*sigh* gotta love the networks and the stupid post-season baseball crap. Trying to make the fans look more involved by giving them all towels to wave, something that never happens in the regular season.

But it looks "kewl" when the Steelers do it, so they figure everyone should do it!!!

And then the stupid damned fans show up and actually participate in the thing! I can't help but laugh, because they hand out WHITE towels, so these bandwagon fans are spending the game yelling at the wrong times and waiving white flags all game

I love the Fenway reaction to those things. The times we've been handed them for playoff games, we wipe off our seats and SIT on them. See how many towels are waving in a Fenway playoff game ;)
