Halladay... Best pitcher in baseball...

Why do people keep trying to perpetuate this easily disprovable myth??

It's not a myth. The Doc has been the most effective and dominant pitcher of this decade. This season is no different from the rest, and as most Jays fans will tell you, he hasn't even pitched his A-game yet this year.

Fact of the matter is, he hardly gets any credit for the pitcher he is because he plays north of the border.

Well I think its also because he is not a flashy strikeout pitcher in the mold of Pedro Martinez and Randy Johnson. The guy is a horse though, and the Jays are lucky to have him.

No doubt he's very, very good. But the best? No. Close, maybe, but not the best.

The Giants had an absolutely awesome weekend. Three game sweep of the cross-bay rivals, and two of the starters (Lincecum and Cain, who both should be going to the All Star Game) had complete games. Johnson, after all the pitching he's done in the last 2 weeks, also had a great effort and I'm loving this Schierholtz kid had a great weekend. So many defensive spectacular plays, and then topped it off with an Inside the Park Home Run. I still say the Giants need a bat, but this is a very surprising run they are on.

Yay! The Twins finally managed to return from a road series with a non-losing record. They needed an assist from Milton Bradley to pull if off, but by taking 2/3 from the Cubbies, they finished the trip at 5-5.

News: I'm the Chicago Cubs offense!

Views: FAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRT.

Well, it is OFFICIAL now...

All five top Blue Jays starters are now on the disabled list.

As is our best pitcher in the the bullpen.

What a season.

God damn...that team can NEVER EVER stay away from the injury bug. It's insane. They are still hanging around in the East though, so you never know...

Red Sox win 6-1 over the Marlins in Fenway's 500th consecutive sellout, and the Yankees LOSE THE THE NATIONALS!:lol::lol: Good night, good night.

That sounds like the pitching coach's problem!

I'm starting to wonder that myself. Brad Arnsberg is a good pitching coach, but I (and many other Jays fans) can't help but begin to speculate if there's something he's teaching that's increasing the risk of injury. I mean, how many young pitchers have we had need major surgery in the past few seasons? I'll grant pitchers tend to get injured easily, but still...

At least Scott Richmond was lights out last night. I can't help but cheer for him... he's Canadian, and had one hell of a long road to the majors.

It's all part of the secret plan. This way, they'll have more games on the road in the playoffs, so they'll win more.

Or something like that.

I think the Twins should consider moving Liriano to the bullpen. He's only been good for a few innings each outing and the Twins' bullpen could cenrtainly use the help (they finally had the sense to dump Jesse Crain, but his replacement isn't any better).

Finished casting my All-Star ballot(s). My picks:

American League:

1B: J. Morneau, Twins (may be a bit biased there)
2B: I. Kinsler, Texas
SS: J. Bartlett, Tampa Bay
3B: E. Longoria, Tampa Bay
C: J. Mauer, Twins
OF: C. Crawford, Tampa Bay, T. Hunter LAA, Jason Bay, Boston

National League

1B: A. Pujols, St. Louis
2B: C. Utley, Philly
SS: H. Ramirez, Florida
3B: D. Wright, NYM
C: B. Molina, S.F.
OF: R. Ibanez, Philly, R. Braun, Milwaukee, Carlos Beltran, NYM

Okay, who are these guys and what have they done with the Washington Nationals? Do the Yankees just suck all of a sudden or are the Nats getting good? :guffaw:

yes, the yankees are sucking right now and hopefully it continues thru the weekend....Go Marlins

and just imagine if the bluejays didn't have the entire pitching staff injured...so as long as they stay close it will be interesting season..
