Major League Baseball 2009

I bet even if we take 3 out of 4 from LA ESPN will still have us behind the Dodgers, Yankees, and Red Sox in their power rankings.
And I'm psychic. Okay, so it was a split with the Dodgers, but all the same.

Went to the A's game yesterday (Cub Scout day at the A's) sparse crowd, 17k or so. Looked like is was going to be a barn burning after the first inning, but then nothing for the next eight. Got home early and had to figure out what to do with the rest of the day.

Heading back the Giants vs Rangers on Father's Day, cool...

This new pitcher the A's picked up looked really good yesterday. It almost seems like the Giants and A's are similar. The Giants pitching is awesome, but the hitting isn't all that great. Same thing with the A's, only the A's actually do have reputable hitters. It is nice to see those hitters finally starting to turn it around. I think it's almost about Giambi's 'stache. The best of him comes out whenever he brings it back.

Some things are just meant to be....

It didn't hurt that the wind was in from left yesterday either.

Oh and another thing, how nasty is the colusium compared to AT&T?:wtf: I hope the A's can create a good baseball only venue once the economy picks up.

^ The Oakland Coliseum wasn't that bad originally. It was when they built that ass-ugly "Mount Davis" (the renovations that added a huge upper deck which the A's don't even USE) that the place really started to go to shit.

If the Raiders split, either for L.A. or a shared stadium with the 49ers, perhaps the A's can bulldoze the Coliseum and build a baseball-only park in its place (AFAIK, that was the main problem with getting Cisco Field built - they couldn't find a place for it).

I moved here after Mt Davis was installed. It is reminiscent of how Angel Stadium was before the last renovation.

The A's really should have a facility near the water, being in the Bay Area and not using that as a backdrop is such a waste.

Anyone see the Alex Rio vs. fan video? They both come across pretty poorly here, especially the fan who isn't exactly the brightest or most creative bulb around.

Ballplayers should be more appreciative of the fans, but the fans shouldn't feel entitled either.

Sox are now 6-0 against the Yankees, with a 7-0 win tonight.

Josh "Commander Kick Ass of the Fuck Yeah Brigade" Beckett was the man. And Big Papi looking like the Big Papi of old.

Yep. Only three balls cleared the infield with Beckett pitching tonight. And Daniel Bard hit the triple digits pitching in relief.

Overall, I'm most pleased to see some vintage Papi long ball action. He's got a seven-game hitting streak going, so let's hope he builds on it.

I honestly had an odd feeling that he was gonna hit one out in that AB. It just seemed like the perfect time. That was a vintage swing from him though.

So, I would like to compare two pitchers.

Pitcher A:

GS: 12
W-L: 4-3
IP: 73.2
BB: 37
K: 66
WHIP: 1.48
ERA: 4.88

Pitcher B:

GS: 11
W-L: 4-3
IP 74.1
BB: 34
K: 56
WHIP: 1.20
ERA: 4.11

Now, one of these guys is A.J. Burnett, apparently worth $16.5 million to the Yankees. The other is converted Toronto reliever Brian Tallet, worth just over $1 million to the Jays this year. Can you tell which one is which? :guffaw:

I hope the Red Sox sweep. That would be awesome if the Sox are 8-0 against the Evil Empire.

As for the Giants, this has been a great road trip. 6-3 with a game to go this afternoon before coming home for the Bay Bridge Series. Yeah they've been against bad teams, but they also won a series against the Cards a while back too. I'm actually a bit surprised they have pretty much a triple A line up and for some reason they finally started to hit. Hope they keep it going.

7-0 Sox....

I love it.

8-0 now as the Sox sweep the Yanks again. And I think Papi is officially back--he crushed that home run to the Monster seats.

The Yanks' weakness has been their bullpen, which imploded tonight.
