Major League Baseball 2009

Tough loss last night. It always sucks when you're pitcher goes 6.2, gives up one run, and still takes the loss.

I think right now Gaston needs to seriously look at switching up the batting order. I respect his decision to show confidence in his hitters, but Wells and Rios aren't working where they are. This is what I'd do:

Scutaro
Rolen
Hill
Lind
Overbay
Wells
Rios
Barajas\Bautista
Chavez\Inglett

I was complaining about Charlie moving Rollins back into leadoff but I guess he did an okay job. Still, I think I prefer Vic there and Rollins in 6th.

Should be a good series between the Red Sox and the Phils.

Red Sox/Phillies
Yankees/Mets
Orioles/Braves
Marlins/Blue Jays
Nationals/Rays

Some interesting games going on tonight. I really enjoy interleague play because teams can gain some serious ground if they're successful.

Ahh... our common enemy the Mets. I'll cheer for anybody that's playing an NL East team right now... no offense.

Tommy Hanson is not that good... ugh. He needs some more work in AAA.

Freaking east coast bias :shifty: ;)

Some interesting West Coast games this weekend:

A's vs. Giants (celebration of the 1989 team and it's the Bay Bridge Series)
Dodgers vs. Texas (the two top teams in their respective divisions)
Seattle vs. Colorado (I only bring this up because Colorado is surprisingly hot)
CWS vs. Brewers (Should be an interesting series)

Hope there is some good baseball played this weekend.

Yankees/Mets
Ugh I have such a hard time rooting for the Yanks.

I love a series like that, 'cuz I'm a fan of BOTH teams. Whoever I root for, will win!!!

It did get me in trouble once, when I walked into Citi Field wearing my Yankees jacket. I got dissed by Mr. Met himself, the bastard. Fortunately, the fans treated me much better. There was a group of fellow Yankee fans sitting near me! One of them even offered me a bag of peanuts. :techman:

(seriously though. What's the big problem here? Interleague play is relatively rare, innit? So two teams who don't normally play each other, logically cannot be rivals.)

I am fucking dying inside right now.

Halladay left tonight's game in the fourth inning with a groin injury. If it's anything worse... I'm just going to totally break down.

Best pitcher in baseball... we cannot afford to have him miss any starts.

Tell me, if somebody hits a pitch that could be a homerun or could be foul and it could (and did) determine who wins the game. Why wouldn't you use instant replay, since it's available to you?

Umpire's discretion. I know of the play of which you speak, even though I have not seen it myself, but multiple people who have seen it tell me it was foul...if by only inches.

Which is why they should have used a replay. I only saw it on tv replays, so I don't know how hesitant the ump was, but, according to the announcers, he waited awhile before making the call. I know it's his call, but, honestly, it looks like he didn't use replay because he didn't want the game decided by it. That's not good enough, since it should be decided by what actually happened. At the very least, they look at replay and decide it's too close to call (or the original call was right) and they go back out there. But there's no way anyone could be certain about that just by looking at it.

Anything more than a few weeks, and we're screwed. Fuck.

Lincecum had a complete game tonight and did it in dominant form in 2 hours and 3 minutes. Heck, in San Francisco on a Friday night, I hope the city is alive tonight. The game ended and the night is still quite young. If I had gone to the game, I would have stayed in the city a bit afterwards.

I saw it. It was foul. But only just...

Halladay... Best pitcher in baseball...

Why do people keep trying to perpetuate this easily disprovable myth??

It's not a myth. The Doc has been the most effective and dominant pitcher of this decade. This season is no different from the rest, and as most Jays fans will tell you, he hasn't even pitched his A-game yet this year.

Fact of the matter is, he hardly gets any credit for the pitcher he is because he plays north of the border.
