Adobe really needs to pull their heads out their ass on some things. I used to use ImageReady religiously back in the day. It was a one-stop-shop designed to build custom animated gif's and sliced clickable image maps, complete with HTML and JavaScript code generation for websites and they killed it. I could never find comparable functionality in PhotoShop or any other tool. That, and they spearheaded the whole "annual subscription" business model back around the same time, charging ridiculously exorbitant prices for the privilege to basically "rent" their software for a year, no longer allowing their users to fully own it and upgrade to a newer version when they feel they need to. I cannot stand what they've become and I'm honestly surprised that they reversed their track on this.
Honestly, I agree, anyone who uses Animate should take this opportunity to treat this as an end-of-life extension and get all their shit exported to a platform-agnostic format as quickly as possible before it goes away for good. I don't trust those bastards at all anymore.
