Doctor Who: The Movie (1996) 4k and blu ray

Apologies if I missed a conversation about this elsewhere.

There's a big fancy blu ray and 4K release of the 1996 TV movie. In some places.

North American fans have had a hard time getting to watch the 1996 TV movie. We never got an official VHS release, so I bought a bad bootleg VHS copy back in 2001 and was glad to have it. The UK got it on DVD before we did. And now they have this fancy new edition restored from the original film elements, with both the UK and US versions and loads of special features. It's not available here. Again.

I ordered what I hope is the new blu ray from Amazon.co.uk; their listings for the various versions are a mess. I've got an external blu ray/DVD/CD drive for my laptop that turned out to be region-free, so I've used it to rip a few blu rays from other regions and watched the mkvs on my TV. I'll do the same when this one arrives, assuming it's the new release. And it's on its way, from the UK to Canada. And who's shipping it from the UK? Australia Post Global. Of course.

I really hope someone eventually add this to streaming. I think at this point it's pretty much the only intact Doctor Who screen media that isn't streaming anywhere in the US. Hell, they even have the Peter Cushing movies on Tubi.

I just got it but have not watched it yet. I am in the UK, I have three versions of it now.

The DVD, a bluray and the 4K tin box. Seems weird to me it's not got a US release.
