Carrie Fisher complains about having to lose weight for the new movie

Re: Carrie Fisher complains about having to lose weight for the new mo

I LOVE Carrie and Gary to death but Jeez. I am sure Disney got her a trainer, prepped a diet for her with prepared meals, AND she gets paid pretty good for the gig. I would LOVE those kinda perks. I just can't really pity here too much, and considering they did the same for Mark.....just not really an valid gripe IMO

Re: Carrie Fisher complains about having to lose weight for the new mo

I wouldn't have at all minded if they recast Leia. I strongly prefer Ann Sachs from the radio dramas for making me envision a strong, spunky woman with royal upbringing. Obviously they wouldn't really recast the roll, but I don't think Fisher brought anything special to the table.

I love Carrie myself--someone needs to make a chatterbot of her insulting people and grousing--I love it.

Re: Carrie Fisher complains about having to lose weight for the new mo

This is the only hard bit about being an actor.

Being the correct weight for the part.

Rarely, actors do have to bulk up.

10s of millions of dollars later, you can stop being an actor if it's too hard.

Re: Carrie Fisher complains about having to lose weight for the new mo

I think that was just her usual sarcasm, in saying that she's gotten a lot of mileage in her career out of NOT feeling good about herself. And this is just screwing all of that up now. :)
Sounds like some good old fashion self deprecating humor.

Re: Carrie Fisher complains about having to lose weight for the new mo

I can see why she's pissed off about this-there's no reason why she has to do so, as Leia's a general who wouldn't be fighting alongside others. I also wonder if it was also necessary for Hamill and Ford to do this as well.

Carrie Fisher complains about having to lose weight for the new movie

“When I do lose the weight, I don’t like that it makes me feel good about myself. It’s not who I am,” she said.

Huh? Did I misread that, or she really say she'd rather be fat and miserable than thin and happy?

Mark Hamill 'lost 50lbs' for Star Wars role

It's obviously out of context for me. But it seems like she's being facetious.

Re: Carrie Fisher complains about having to lose weight for the new mo

they should've done with Leia what they did with Vader in the OT and had someone else like Ann Sachs voice her. Fisher sounds like an old hag now.

Re: Carrie Fisher complains about having to lose weight for the new mo

Hammil had to get in shape too and he looks fucking great, he was a fat fuck a few years ago.

I wonder he be will need to do lightsaber training again?

There is a lot they can do with camera tricks and CGI these days, but I'm hoping the days of flippy shit and dancing is over. I don't mind a bit of jumping, but it seems like such an ineffective move unless you're jumping backwards to get away like Luke did in Jedi. It still befuddles me when Obi-Wan jumped over Darth Maul and didn't react in the slightest.

Re: Carrie Fisher complains about having to lose weight for the new mo

My doctor told me to loose twenty pounds for no real reason and I complained about it.
