^Agreed.
But to be fair, they had been playing up Jesse's impulsive nature and hot-headed approach to field work, especially when he's emotionally connected in some way all season long.
Since the guy was introduced, he's been a loose cannon that Michael has had to rein in. Sadly, I don't really think Jesse adds much of anything to the team or the team's dynamic. He's been an outsider all season long and I don't see that going away with whatever resolution they cook up moving into seasons 5 and 6.
Michael, Fiona, & Sam work because of the relationships between the characters.
His mom works, because of her relationship with Michael and her very different relationships with Sam & Fiona.
Jesse hasn't had a relationship with any of these guys up until this point, and what has been established has been shoehorned in. "Staying with Madeline" "Crushing on Fi"
I did enjoy this last episode, but I almost want to go back and look at the writers of this season and see who the new guy they brought in was.
