Big Brother 23

Tiffany has her eye on the money as well, and as much as I prefer Claire to Alyssa, she should have heeded Alyssa and put up Claire. That would have ensured that Claire got to play in the Veto competition and Tiffany could always have changed her mind and backdoored someone else.

But Tiffany should have known that when they agreed as a group who would win the competition, and she went directly against it with no explanation, it'd make them irritated at her. That's just failure to maintain positive relationships with the other players.

I don't think she's being unreasonable, I think she made a terrible game move.

More Wikipedia spoilers about veto outcome.

Alyssa won the veto and Tiffany had to put up Claire. I want to watch the zingbot stuff but might turn the episode off right after the comp to avoid the inevitable crying. This has to just absolutely out the Cookout.

Both Tiffany & Xavier share blame in this moment. Tiffany made a dumb game move in pushing to win the HOH. Her resume won't matter if she doesn't get to the final two. Xavier, however, was being a giant baby pre-veto about having to go on the block. He knew he wasn't going home and the whining is all for show.

Did my ears deceive me, or did Claire ask Tiffany point-blank if she was in an alliance with the other black houseguests and Tiffany point-blank lied to her?

I am really starting to dislike Xavier and Azah now. Those two and Derek F. can GTFO any time.

I wonder why Hannah didn’t think of nominating two cookout members to try to keep Alyssa out of the veto comp.

Edit: Well, they did it. It will be interesting to see what happens now. Tiffany and Kyland seem like they're everyone's early targets, but I can't believe anyone would actually willingly sit next to Xavier in the end. I have no idea who's going to win because I think Hannah played a great game but I'm not sure she can sell it to the jury.

It's been a game with a lot of lying in it, and some people may not be able to forgive that.

At least one of the non-Cookout finally put it together (Claire).

I liked the way Claire handled it, pointing out what happened to black players in all other seasons. Not many exceptions. Danielle in BB3 who only lost cause the jury wasn’t sequestered yet. Kaycee.

What the cookout did is no different from what Derrick, Cody, Jackson, Hayden and any other really successful alliance did. The only difference is amount of melanin.

That isn't what makes me shake my head in disbelief. It's that none of the other players caught on. Of the pre-jury evictees, I bet some of them are feeling a bit dumb at this point that they didn't notice what was going on.

Even Alyssa was STILL not sure, less than an hour before she was booted.

That was hilarious. "Hey, did you ever notice...if Claire goes home, there's only minorities left in the house?"
And a 15-watt bulb goes on in Alyssa's completely myopic little brain.

And she realized, "I'm only half-white, does that mean I'm next?"

DUH!

I still think Tiffany, Hanna, and Azah should have formed a women's alliance with Claire and Alyssa. They'd have had the numbers to get rid of the men, and the three black women outnumbered the others, so the final three would still have been black.

But I sincerely hope that neither Derek F. nor Azah get anywhere near the final 3. They are revolting, both of them.

I don't want them to win but I don't understand the extreme revulsion toward them. They seem to me like normal people who just lucked into a dominant alliance.

Even in her interview, Alyssa seemed to really believe that if Xavier hadn't been vetoed he would have gone home instead.

I'm thinking about whether, centuries long history of racism aside, it really would have been in their best interest to have an all women's alliance. Maybe if they had done it earlier.

Derek F. has been openly hostile and intimidating to others, his thoughtless actions when Hannah was hurt on the swing said that he didn't care if she was (to be sure, she shouldn't have lied; I hope at some point medical made sure she didn't have a concussion), his statements in the Diary Room... and what the FUCK is his inability to utter the phrase "I vote to evict ______"? Has he ever been able to say that phrase correctly even once?

Azah... seemed okay at first. She seemed a bit shy. A bit uncertain. But as the numbers dwindled, we saw more of her, the less pleasant she became. Now she's like a block of ice, socially - and can go any time. I really don't believe she or Derek F. deserve to win anyway, because what have they really done? As in advancing their own game rather than riding coattails?

I don't see Azah being cold. She hugs crying people more than anyone.

I agree when he injured Hannah he was being thoughtless but I saw that more as impulsivity and failure to predict the outcome than not caring.

I agree they don't deserve to win, I just don't dislike them as human beings.

A couple of them have stated that they're tired of the fake smiles and pretending, so I daresay that some of those hugs aren't sincere either. It's just something they're expected to do, and while some are no doubt sincere, I don't think they all are by any stretch.

Notice that Claire refused to hug anyone? She said she'd do it on finale night.

I suppose it could have been to save time, but Alyssa took time to hug, if memory serves.

With the hugging thing, and the way Claire answered Julie's question mentioning what happened to black players in previous seasons, I think Claire was still feeling hurt and angry but trying to talk herself out of the anger. She knows she shouldn't feel angry but being human, was feeling angry anyway.

Her moral feelings about how she should feel contradicted how she did feel.

Derek has blamed BB for not making challenges for him all season and has just seemed to be really whiny and bitchy. He has literally done nothing this game and acts like he came up with the Cookout and orchestrated the season when he did probably the least outside of Azah. I'm just done with him.

I don't blame her for not hugging anyone. I'd feel the same way.

Agreed. What does he expect - that the entire game would be catered to him on a silver platter? He's coasted the entire time.

I mean, if you’re not physically fit or agile, not good at puzzles and not good at noticing visual details. What challenges do you expect to win? A pie eating contest?

What’s with these Survivor ads. “Next season is MORE BADASS” than before! (Describes things the show has already done)

I miss the earlier Survivor seasons when the challenges actually had something to do with the culture or terrain of where they were. I remember those rope mazes in the first season, where some players actually got lost and Jeff wasn't constantly calling out and making comments. And a reward wasn't a gourmet dinner, but a single piece of pizza.
