Big Brother 23

Xavier is my current pick to win. Besides being obviously smart and charismatic, I remember that scene about ironing the paper towel just appreciating the humor of trying to act natural. He probably could have won even in the 22 seasons with only one black person and now he’s in the first diverse season with a five person force field.

Tiffany’s probably the smartest player but doesn’t have the top tier charisma of Xavier.

Christian is an interesting HoH winner. Because the Cookout/Royal Flush shared members will be trying to nudge him away from Hannah without saying why.

I'm starting to think that someone from the Cookout is absolutely going to win.

They already nearly have the majority. And also a layer of protection of nobody else wanting to risk being accused of racism on national TV by suggesting they're all working together.
Hopefully the players most likely to go there are already gone. You know Frenchie and Brent would have.

I don't have a good enough read on the women yet to predict if any would make an issue of it.

It's actually funny how some of the men are worried about an all-women's alliance. In all the years of watching these CBS reality shows, the only time I remember that actually working was on Survivor, and that was just once. The winner of that season was so good at manipulating the men that one of them just said, "Tell me what to do. I'll vote however you say." By that time he wasn't even trying (I think that was Troyzan? I might be confusing him with one of the others).

Based on skill and charisma, Xavier definitely has a better chance than Tiffany. But even with skill, charisma, and great acting with a sense of humor, Xavier can always be the victim of sheer bad luck in one of the competitions that has an element of chance - especially in the final competition, when there's much less opportunity to make the case that he should be the one who's kept and the other should be the one sent to the jury.

Christian is someone who seems likeable, but I find myself distracted by his constantly-changing hairstyle. Just pick one, already.

Though I suppose that it helps pass the time. I have long hair and occasionally braid it or put it in a ponytail. But the braiding is out of boredom as I've been staying at home for the past year and a half, and the ponytail is so it doesn't get in the way of cleaning the cat box.

I think the reason given for booting Christian (I'm pretty sure he isn't winner material unless he accidentally coasts into the final 3) will be that he's one half of a showmance, and if he and Hannah are on the block together, her alliance(s) have the numbers to get rid of him.

Derek F I also think has a strong chance to win. Figuring out Xavier’s job. He has the kind of intelligence that doesn’t read as intelligence and will never be seen as a threat.

I have to give a shot to Sarah Beth, Claire, Kyland and Hannah depending on how the Cookout shakes out.

Christian could win in other seasons. This season he’s a first target of whatever alliance opposes him. Derek X is too good at comps not to be targeted. Whitney, Alyssa and Asa don’t have what it takes.

I'm blanking on what Xavier's job is. I did read it in his bio, but that was over 3 weeks ago, and my mind has been focused on Dune and getting through this month's NaNoWriMo competition.

Lawyer, you must have missed Wednesday's episode.
I really need to stop watching this show when I'm in bed. I tend to doze off during the commercials and wake up 10 minutes later, or even after the show is over. I'll see if that episode is still available on the Global website.

BTW, is anyone watching the live feeds? I checked out this Paramount + and can't see where Big Brother is even listed. They have a huge photo of Jeff Probst, but they're not even doing Survivor this year, are they?

I read there is a Survivor in September.

The Cookout has also been one of the smartest alliances we've seen in a while. They all have their side alliances and aren't blindingly obvious when trying to save those side alliances.

This cast has also seemed to have been one of the smarter ones in recent memory, even if that means they aren't interesting (as I have read).

So far I haven't heard of any controversial or outrageous happenings that only the live feed watchers would know about. Hopefully that means CBS now has a zero-tolerance policy on expressions of racism, misogyny, physical abuse, and fighting.

I did note Frenchie mentioning that the "parents" pranked the younger houseguests, but none of that was shown (so far; maybe as flashbacks in future episodes if they need filler material?).

I’m on vacation this week and not planning to do a week of catch-up viewing. Anything of note happen I wouldn’t get from Wikipedia? Seems like he nominated just who they talked about.

This season, they got the worst three out first and even they weren’t that bad. This might be the best casting BB has ever done.

I don't read the Wikipedia summary, so  ?

I'm considering the 7-day trial for the live feeds, though, just out of curiosity. There could be all sorts of shenanigans going on that we don't see.

(OTOH, there must be a reason why all of them are adamant about Whitney; all that blather about the "sports bra" with buckles, plus her shaking her anatomy all over the place gives me the impression that she's a bit of an exhibitionist)

I got the impression Whitney was just least alliance protected so everyone’s process of elimination.

I haven’t paid for live feeds since BB2 and only watched them the first couple weeks. It was pretty illuminating. They spent hours coming up with an elaborate drinking game they never played and Will was constantly talking dirty at everyone. Something about having three “Orifices of love” and proposing who might fill each of them.

There were comments that Whitney is bad at competitions and her social game is bad. If the best of her social game is defending that ridiculous getup she was wearing that had Derek F. so freaked out, that is bad.

Yeah, I don’t think anyone has anything against Whitney. They just think “Let’s see, I gave this alliance of six, this alliance of five, this team I’m assigned to. That leaves Whitney and Brittani and putting Brittani up three times is too mean.”

There was a conversation and some of them flat-out stated what they have against Whitney. It's not anything about numbers. Some of them genuinely think her social game is horrible. She is the target this week.

She can't be that bright if she thinks that's a workout top.

There's going to be some real cutting beginning next week, unless that HOH decides to take the easy way out and get Brittini gone.

So... no big surprise. Depending on who won HoH, I predict that the next nominees will include Sarah Beth, Christian, or both.

Good grief, does Whitney ever stop wiggling and shaking her anatomy?

Well, that was kinda fakey "acting" when Xavier threw the HoH competition.

Sarah Beth and Brittini on the block... I'm starting to like Sarah Beth, so hopefully she stays. Brittini can go, already. I'm tired of her relentless whining.
