It makes a lot more sense for a WWII bunker to be someplace where you could drive from Istanbul than in America, where there wasn't a ground war.

Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but I think that electronics that are not in use when an EMP goes off remain unaffected. Only operational electronics are wiped. At least, that's the way it is often presented in fiction.
Well, this felt more like SHIELD again, with the can-do attitude and everybody on the team back in character. And Triplett is fitting right in nicely. I loved the 60s-era spy tech, Coulson's reaction to it, and Fitz's use of it to fry Garrett. Also loved Coulson and May going undercover and their "file transfer." Not to mention the pizza delivery to "Pablo Hernandez." 
Ward was clearly a psychopath even before Garrett messed with him, and he had no problem killing the dog and Fitz/Simmons despite having mixed feelings (unless they reveal that it was actually Garrett who killed the dog). But there have been worse characters on TV that have been redeemed-- Spike and Londo, for example-- so who knows? But he's so boring now that I'd just as soon they kill him off. Hopefully this "SHIELD No More" storyline won't last very long anyway.

And it's called fiction for a reason.
An EMP is a magnetic pulse that induces electric currents in wires and circuits, currents so strong that it burns them out. It doesn't matter if they have power running through them ahead of time or even if they have batteries installed -- the EMP itself is the source of the power that runs through them.The only defense is for a device to be shielded/hardened against external EM fields, e.g. by a Faraday cage, or to have robust circuits that are designed to handle really intense currents without burning out. Perhaps the metal shell of the "quarter" walkie-talkie would work as a Faraday cage.
I laughed at the large file transfer as well.
I'm not so sure Ward killed the dog. He can't have used the gun AND the sniper. Likewise, all we saw was a box fall out from the bus with no idea if Fitz and Simmons were in the box. Looks like Ward's started on his redemption arc.
If Ward was going to kill the dog why wouldn't he have done it with the handgun? Makes little sense for him to fire into the air, leave, then shoot the dog with the rifle.

That's the way I took it too. Garrett was testing Ward, and wanted to see if he would blindly follow his order. I don't think there was a gunshot.
What I don't get is Trip also trained under Garrett, so did Garrett do the same thing to Trip and train him as a Hydra agent? I hope he isn't some sort of sleeper agent, I want him to stay on the team.
Might have been easier for Ward to shoot Buddy from a distance, looking at him through a scope may have allowed him to compartmentalize his emotions.
Good thought. Or maybe he regretted his moment of compassion (or "weakness") with the pistol, so he finished Buddy off with the rifle since that was the only way to get him at a distance.
Pretty sure I heard a shot. But here's my theory of that last shot of the dog running away: It was originally filmed without the gun sight to show that yes, Buddy ran away and was safe. Then they changed their minds and decided to superimpose the gun sight and dub a shot, probably to make Garrett more of a bastard. Just a theory, based on too many years of behind-the-scenes stories and DVD extras

In my mind, there was no shot. Buddy is FINE.
He'll will save the day in the finale when Garrett and Ward are about to kill Coulson and Buddy will come charging in and take them both down. Then he will join the team as a certified canine agent and good boy. He's a good boy! Yes he is!
That latter is how I took it, especially with the present-day scene at the same time of deciding whether or not to throw FitzSimmons off the Bus. Unlike with Buddy there was no moment of weakness even if he did still like them.
