Agents of SHIELD. Season 1 Discussion Thread

Own?

I was shocked to find out that officers in my local army were forced to buy their entire Kit.

It sounded very pyramid schemey.

There must be a line between what May owns and what she is assigned by the Quartermaster.

Considering the tech inside those suits of armour (Just simply only leather, my ass.) it's unlikely that any S.H.I.E.L.D. agent would be allowed to take that stuff home, or take it with them after retirement.

If "retirement" is possible.

Prisoner anyone?

Forced retirement to Tahiti? Ouch. Is that why we haven't seen the Shield old folks home yet?

Do agents get old enough to retire? Is anyone older than Fury? I wonder what the average career length of a S.H.I.E.L.D. agent is - three to ten years? Before getting beat down by a man in power armor, or unmanned alien power armor, or whacked by a fire-throwing crazy man, or... etc, etc, etc.

And Coulson came back from the dead. Carter and Coulson are not average agents! What of the poor SHIELD redshirts?

She (kinda) founded S.H.I.E.L.D.

Peggy would have had to have been stone cold to put into play devices that would sanction herself upon retirement.

So, um, Peggy and Howard did it a lot?

Agents of SHIELD: 1x09: "The Well"

In the aftermath of the events chronicled in the feature film THOR: THE DARK WORLD, Coulson and The Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. pick up the pieces--one of which threatens to destroy a member of the team.

Dear Asgard:

Look, it seems you guys have left a lot of your junk lying around our planet. That's cool and all but it seems to cause us some problems, mind picking it all up and taking it back to a place where not just anyone can find it and become a powerful psycho?

Thanks, Midgard

A good episode and a worthy tie-in to the Thor branch of Marvel.

The biggest surprise? The end when May invited Ward into her room and he went in. Totally didn't see that coming. Anger and uncomfortable feelings can trigger a desire for sex as a form of relief. Maybe that's it.

Ward and May?!?!?

Totally did not see that coming.

I wonder how the other members of the team would react if they had seen that scene. A mixture of jealousy and sadness perhaps.

So does this completely rule out the Ward/Skye combo? I suppose not, but it now seems less likely. Meanwhile, the odds for Fitz/Simmons seem to have gone thorugh the roof.

One line I did notice was when Ward first got mean, he really let Fitz hear it about not being the one to save Simmons. That was a little surprising.

And then a dream about Tahiti to finish. Here's the thing: if this show was originally just 13 episodes before being expanded to 22 (or whatever the exact numbers are), should we assume that the answers regarding Tahiti were scheduled to show up in episode 12 or 13?

I think it's likely that the Ward/May situation will cause friction between Ward and Skye. Hence the fact that they basically had him turn her down to go to May's room.

Yeah, I know eh?

So does this completely rule out the Ward/Skye combo?
One would hope.

Was that a nod to Dollhouse (at the very end)?

Had to be. I caught that also. Plus, Coulson clearly seems to have been "programmed", what with his conditioned response of "it's a magical place".

The nod for those not Dollhouse viewers.
Q- "Did I fall asleep?"
A- "For a little while."
This was the exchange after/before a Doll was programmed.

Would've been nice to have a followup line mentioning the Bilteschnipe seen running around the London warehouses at the very tail end of TDW.

Uh-oh, if Coulson doesn't get better he may need some Thorazine, THOR-a-zine! How many times did he get name-dropped this ep? Coulson's favorite Avenger? Linda THOR-son of course.

Unfortunately we didn't get to see Vigo the Asgardian but it was a decent ep though not quite up to the last couple of weeks IMO.
