DS9 got away with gimmick comedy episodes because it had much longer seasons.
With ten episodes, it feels like a third of SNW episodes a season are gimmicks
That, in a nutshell, is my point.

Even though I hated eps 2 and 4 of this season, I agree with you on this.It usually does it quite well.
But one could argue SNW's genre-hopping the way it does is its identity. A distinction that is a counter argument to accusations of stagnation or franchise fatigue. I dont the believe the latter is a thing personally.DS9 got away with gimmick comedy episodes because it had much longer seasons.

It's been batting a little above .500 for me. There are a couple of episodes each season I'll skip.Which isn't a bad or good thing.
I didn't care for the first two episodes of this season. One a serious episode and one a comic one. Both are at the bottom the list because they we're as good as the others. The next two were a vast improvement.
SNW is about playing with genre. It usually does it quite well.
I appreciate the show is playing with genre and form. It's the execution that sometimes doesn't quite pass muster. However, I'm not insane, so I'm not gonna hold that against the rest of the series. But one could argue SNW's genre-hopping the way it does is its identity. Where fun goes to dieDon't you know? This is Star Trek, Fun has no place in this franchise.

Already exists. It’s called Star Treki wonder if there will be a spinoff series after season 5 when spock scotty and uhruna joins james tiberius kirk on its 5 year mission and they meet sulu checkov and doc
oh yah but what if they rebooted the original series as the spinoff sequel to strange new worldsAlready exists. It’s called Star Trek
Then why bother ending SNW after 5 seasons in the first place?oh yah but what if they rebooted the original series as the spinoff sequel to strange new worlds

5 year mission with captain pike i guessThen why bother ending SNW after 5 seasons in the first place?
im just saying what ifThey're not going to.
No.5 year mission with captain pike i guess
Fair enough. Ep 3 was very average but okay for me. Ep 4 was one of the worst episodes of Star Trek I've every seen. Up there with Threshold. I just found it boring, repetitive and so far out of character. I honestly thought that they were still in the Holodeck at the end of the episode it seemed so nuts. SNW does have different episodes that appeal to different people though. I thought that Charades was one of the funniest episodes of Start Trek I've ever watched and plenty of people hated it.Which isn't a bad or good thing.

Aren't they hoping to do this idea? Star Trek: Year One is meant to follow Kirk's first year. The Sehlat that Ate It's Tail was the backdoor pilot so we can see who will be in it.Then why bother ending SNW after 5 seasons in the first place?
No, it’s not a backdoor pilot. The Sehlat that Ate It's Tail was the backdoor pilot so we can see who will be in it.
