DS9 got away with gimmick comedy episodes because it had much longer seasons.
With ten episodes, it feels like a third of SNW episodes a season are gimmicks
That, in a nutshell, is my point.

Even though I hated eps 2 and 4 of this season, I agree with you on this.It usually does it quite well.
But one could argue SNW's genre-hopping the way it does is its identity. A distinction that is a counter argument to accusations of stagnation or franchise fatigue. I dont the believe the latter is a thing personally.DS9 got away with gimmick comedy episodes because it had much longer seasons.

It's been batting a little above .500 for me. There are a couple of episodes each season I'll skip.Which isn't a bad or good thing.
I didn't care for the first two episodes of this season. One a serious episode and one a comic one. Both are at the bottom the list because they we're as good as the others. The next two were a vast improvement.
SNW is about playing with genre. It usually does it quite well.
I appreciate the show is playing with genre and form. It's the execution that sometimes doesn't quite pass muster. However, I'm not insane, so I'm not gonna hold that against the rest of the series. But one could argue SNW's genre-hopping the way it does is its identity.
