‘Star Trek: Strange New Worlds’ Renewed for Fifth and Final Season

Season 2 could have ticked over in 2260 (it only really has to be 2259 in episode 4) and if the finale of season 3 is the centennary then it could only just be 2261 then. A celebration of the whole year not the exact date.

The timeline still adds up without any massive need for skips, it just isnt as cleanly cut as it used to be. But then we had 3 seasons of lower decks all in 2381

The real Canary in the coal mine will be if there's no announcements of future shows for a while, once the sale / merger with Skydance goes through. If it goes through and we hear nothing but crickets about the Tawny Newsome show, or A Janeway show, or even God damn "Legacy." Then I think we might be in for similar situation to 2005.

That’s why I’m happy we’re getting the Trek we’re getting at all, because that might be it for a while.

It’s still regrettable that Netflix completely unmade the television industry and put us in this situation where seasons are too short, and wait time between them are too long.

Unless they just say eff the timeline and just figure it out.

I’m guessing they go with this.

All I ask for the finale is for them to leave it open ended ala TNG (and Disco & LD to an extent). No “the band is breaking up” like DS9, Voyager and Enterprise. No rehash of Pikes accident, no remake of The Menagerie, no passing the baton to Kirk, etc…

Just have them finish the mission they are on, have Pike say “hit it” and warp into credits.

One thing to keep in mind is the plausible time frame for this series was always limited due to Kirk taking command eventually.

Hell, you could have boundless optimism here and presume a full TOS reboot will be announced after the Season 5 finale. Technically a new show, but all the same sets and with many continuing cast members.

FARSCAPE was "guaranteed" seasons 4 AND 5 when it got that renewal announcenent toward the end of season 3.

It ended up getting canceled midway through season 4. If the money well dries up, no shows will flow.

Until filming actually begins on a 5th season, I don't trust this announcement. (And even then, I am not 100% trusting given how many shows have been taken out for tax breaks.)

(I will also echo the statement that 6 is just too short an episode count for already too short seasons.)
Yup, I feel the same way. Burn me once, shame on you. :scream:

I'm not reading through 4 pages right now, got better things to do.....
But has anyone considered the fact we MIGHT be getting 6 ninety minute episodes.......???
Telling 6 free standing stories?
Who knows......

The idea was sort of touched upon in here. It would be great if we actually got something like that.

Time will tell...

I haven’t, really, no. It doesn’t strike me as remotely likely. But that doesn’t mean I regard it as flat-out impossible. That would rule!
