Wow, they're bringing back the Chinese bad guys AND the Russian bad guys?! This is going to be a crowded final two episodes!
There's still time to bring up a Mexican drug cartel! (We already had the Muslim terrorist and the American traitor)

Oh God, that brings up bad memories of the always vaguely referred to "THREE MIDDLE EASTERN COUNTRIES" in the back half of season 2.I find it interesting how they're always really careful never to say any one country, just "The Middle East."
So far I'm really enjoying this season, upthread I was told it was as bad as Season 4 (one that I didn't care for too much) so I was hesitant going in, but I'm still enjoying it, I even love the addition of Ricky Schroeder, and I think my favorite "new" character is Tom Lennox, at first I thought he'd just be another antagonist for the President, but he's turned into a three dimensional character when he refused to be a party to the assassination attempt and promptly turned the two men in (knowing it was 24, I thought they'd drag this out and have Tom go back and forth on what he should do, so it was a pleasant surprised at his swift action).
They finally bothered to invent a name for not-Iran in S8.Oh God, that brings up bad memories of the always vaguely referred to "THREE MIDDLE EASTERN COUNTRIES" in the back half of season 2.I find it interesting how they're always really careful never to say any one country, just "The Middle East."![]()
now that Day 9 is almost over how do you guys feel it stacks up with the previous seasons? I like this season better than some of the previous season myself. Going to miss 24 (again!) when its over.

So, no mention of how WWIII has just been triggered? The US has just Pearl Harbored China's ONLY carrier in international waters. Unless the writers think the PRC is going to just shrug away the murder of several thousand of their sailors and the destruction of a multibillion dollar asset it took them decades to get up and running. Please don't tell me they're going to somehow reveal Chang did it and the Chinese will be A-OK with that explanation.
Alternately, are we going to do the "oh those torpedoes, which in real life would have broken the carrier's back, only did a little damage and the the sub captain, who was really accepting of insane orders like start WWIII, didn't follow up the first strike with a further spread of torpedoes, so let's have Heller order US navy assets in the area move to assist the Chinese - all's well!"
So Jack just stopped Fayed and recovered the nukes. With about eight episodes left I figured there was going to be some last minute twist and someone would still have one of the nukes and they'd have to track him down. So I was fairly surprised when they completely changed gears and turned it into a story about Jack trying to get Audrey back from the Chinese. Having watched the current season, this is not the first time we've had a sudden change in the story line of the season (both interestingly enough, featuring Cheng Zhi). I'm wondering if this is one of the sudden changes that cause people to dislike this season, and while it a sudden switch for me, I'm actually finding my interest raised back up...especially now that Daniels is in charge and has effectively turned Jack into a fugitive again (which incidentally, is when Jack does some of his best work).
But there were lots of problems even before we got to this point. Sandra Palmer, the evil Bauer family, the Milo-Doyle bickering (apparently something happened in Denver), just the general mess of things.
...and unless it's a colossal fuck up, I'm going to put season 6 down as another one that I really enjoyed.
You're dead to me.so I'm going to put season 6 down as one I've really enjoyed.
