    Caught-up.

You know.... It seems for me that there's quite a bit to finish-up in the next two (or 14, depending on how you want to look at it) hours.

Though this was a great episode, actually sort of cheered/applauded during Chloe's attempt to run off with the device under the guise of having to go pee behind a dumpster.

Great Jack interrogation scene, even better Agent Yvonne interrogation scene.

I think this "final season" story they've been feeding us is misdirection. They've set up too much to be resolved in 2 episodes. I've a feeling we're going to get a cliffhanger.

Also I'm (finally) nearly finished with Season 6. I got sidetracked watching some other shows. I just finished the episode where Wayne Palmer calls off the strike against the Middle East. I find it interesting how they're always really careful never to say any one country, just "The Middle East."

So far I'm really enjoying this season, upthread I was told it was as bad as Season 4 (one that I didn't care for too much) so I was hesitant going in, but I'm still enjoying it, I even love the addition of Ricky Schroeder, and I think my favorite "new" character is Tom Lennox, at first I thought he'd just be another antagonist for the President, but he's turned into a three dimensional character when he refused to be a party to the assassination attempt and promptly turned the two men in (knowing it was 24, I thought they'd drag this out and have Tom go back and forth on what he should do, so it was a pleasant surprised at his swift action).

Also, I'm surprised this hasn't been mentioned yet in this thread:

While it's going to be mostly sex scenes, the non-sex parody scenes look pretty funny.

Oh God, that brings up bad memories of the always vaguely referred to "THREE MIDDLE EASTERN COUNTRIES" in the back half of season 2.

Yeah if they just left it at that mention in Season 2 I might not have brought it up. But since the vague allusions return in Season 6, I just had to say something :D

I think the worst seasons are 8, 6 and 4, in that order.

People really loved the first four episodes of season 6. It was the back 20 that caused a lot of , especially when they ran out of ideas and had to switch gears.

At least season 6 brought Milo back.

Yeah, I figured it would start degenerating in quality as I went along, but I'm still enjoying it  For me it hasn't gotten as repetitive or stupid as Season 4 had gotten around the same time.

now that Day 9 is almost over how do you guys feel it stacks up with the previous seasons? I like this season better than some of the previous season myself. Going to miss 24 (again!) when its over.

I'd really say it's been one of the stronger ones, I don't know if that's because the writing is better, they've had 4-years to plan out this season, or if because it's almost over we know we won't have to worry about some secondary plot or other nonsense to pad-out the back half.

It's more entertaining than previous seasons, but that's because they cut out a lot of the fat they needed to pad out 24 episodes. If you think about it, a lot of stuff this season is the same as every other season, but they don't have time to drag it out. You still have blockhead characters who exist only to be a thorn in someone's side or raise the stakes for the sake of having stakes, like that tunnel vision marine who wanted to shoot Bauer no matter the circumstances or what anyone said and had no characteristics outside of that. Or mustached Russian official guy.

    Anatol: I want Bauer now.
Mark: He's trying to deactivate a bomb that will destroy all of Europe.
Anatol: You told me you would hand him over. Hand him over.
Mark: What do you not understand about "bomb that will destroy all of Europe?"
Anatol: You have 10 minutes to hand him over.
Mark: You understand if the bomb explodes, you die too, right?
Anatol: Do you want me to tell President Heller you forged the document?

Navarro found out to be a bad guy, caught the next episode. Cross discovered to be Navarro's contact that very same episode. The drone pilot's story arc was only four episodes. No one has idiot family members or secret pasts involving a circle of idiots that bog down the plot for eight episodes.

So, no mention of how WWIII has just been triggered? The US has just Pearl Harbored China's ONLY carrier in international waters. Unless the writers think the PRC is going to just shrug away the murder of several thousand of their sailors and the destruction of a multibillion dollar asset it took them decades to get up and running. Please don't tell me they're going to somehow reveal Chang did it and the Chinese will be A-OK with that explanation.

Alternately, are we going to do the "oh those torpedoes, which in real life would have broken the carrier's back, only did a little damage and the the sub captain, who was really accepting of insane orders like start WWIII, didn't follow up the first strike with a further spread of torpedoes, so let's have Heller order US navy assets in the area move to assist the Chinese - all's well!"

We're talking about a universe where the United States has gone through 9 or so presidents in almost five terms, no President has finished their term since David Palmer, and it's looking like Heller is going to keep this nearly two-decade long tradition alive by resigning mid-term.

We've had 7 major attacks or attempted attacks on the United States over the course of the same period of time and now at least one attack on London.

The people of the 24-universe live in a fucked-up world. I'm sure the Chinese will get over the aircraft carrier being blown up. ;) Especially when it's explained it was of the result of terrorist activity/devices and not by a decision made by the US government.

^^^^I would hate to live in America in the 24 Universe, sheesh! You never know when some terrorist is going to show up and hold the world ransom for a day.

And they never can catch the guy right away either, I know it's meant to make the season last and up the tension, but boy CTU is rather deficient as an Agency at times

So Jack just stopped Fayed and recovered the nukes. With about eight episodes left I figured there was going to be some last minute twist and someone would still have one of the nukes and they'd have to track him down. So I was fairly surprised when they completely changed gears and turned it into a story about Jack trying to get Audrey back from the Chinese. Having watched the current season, this is not the first time we've had a sudden change in the story line of the season (both interestingly enough, featuring Cheng Zhi). I'm wondering if this is one of the sudden changes that cause people to dislike this season, and while it a sudden switch for me, I'm actually finding my interest raised back up...especially now that Daniels is in charge and has effectively turned Jack into a fugitive again (which incidentally, is when Jack does some of his best work).

Even if it was something they planned, it just feels like they ran out of ideas and just came up with something that required switching gears.

But there were lots of problems even before we got to this point. Sandra Palmer, the evil Bauer family, the Milo-Doyle bickering (apparently something happened in Denver  ), just the general mess of things.

I assuming you're talking about the fact that all that stuff was brought up and not really expanded upon? I can't really say anything to that because it's true, but I personally can overlook it because I think the season is moving at a (fun) breakneck pace and I'm really enjoying it.

I just watched the episode where Milo gets shot  and Jack attempts to be John McClane (and fails). I'm certainly eager to see where the last three episodes take me, and unless it's a colossal fuck up, I'm going to put season 6 down as another one that I really enjoyed.

Right now, things are piling up. The Russians are after my ass, the Chinese just used the MacGuffin to blow up one of their own aircraft carriers via a United States sub, wait... What?! And... are they trying to hook me and Yvonne up? Anyway, I'm glad I still have 12 more hours to figure all of this stuff out.

    ...

    Uh, huh.

    ...

    Really?

    ...

Fuck. My name is Jack Bauer, and I have some serious shit to do.

The following takes place between 9:00 PM and 10:00 PM

Well, they didn't fuck it up (in my opinion) so I'm going to put season 6 down as one I've really enjoyed. So far the only weak season is 4, while there were several parts I did enjoy, overall it just felt too sporadic and the writing was really bad.

I can't wait to watch the TV movie, will be nice for a little change of pace until getting back into the thick of things with Season 7.

    You're dead to me. :p

Well, this episode wasn't as good as the last two, but judging by the preview, next week should be awesome.

You just knew Audrey was going to get her stupid ass captured.
