24: Live Another Day. Discussion Thread. (Spoilers)

I'd like to note that it's the second time someone throws Michelle Fairley character's son out of the window and the second time her character's son is killed in front of her, before she is killed.

I hope she doesn't turn into TV Sean Bean.

Michelle Fairley seems to play mothers who do a terrible job at attempting to keep her kids safe (Harry Potter, Misifts, Game Of Thrones and now 24).

Right now, terrorists are planning nothing because I've killed them and chucked them out windows! Now time to kick back and get some rest... What? Someone stole the MacGuffin? Dammit!

The following takes place between 8:00 PM and 9:00 PM.

I finished Season 5 a few days ago and I loved the hell out of it. Unlike Season 4 it escalated things in a plausible and coherent fashion. And even managed to throw me off track by casting Ray Wise as the Veep (who I was so sure was going to be revealed to be the villain).

I'm about 5 episodes into Season 6 right now and I'm really enjoying the plot thus far. Revealing Paul McCrane's character from Season 5 as Jack's brother was pretty neat, I wonder if they had always planned on him being related to Jack? James Cromwell as Jack's father is just icing on the cake :D

So you didn't mind all the deaths of beloved characters? Or the waste of a silent clock on Edgar? :D

If you had known Heller could survive driving off a cliff, a drone attack would've been nothing. ;)

Michelle's death sure did shock me, and I know you aren't fond of Edgar (I think, based on your previous comments) but I found his death touching and I had a tear in my eye for his silent clock. I already knew Tony was going to return for Season 7 so I knew he wasn't dead, and Heller's drive off the cliff didn't shock me either as I know he doesn't die since I've been watching him in "Live Another Day."

I loved Peter Weller's "shades of gray" character, he made for a really fun villain. And what I found really remarkable is that when the Season was made Weller looked like he still could have played Robocop without any problems.

I wonder if anyone ever actually asked Donald Sutherland (Kiefer's dad) to play Philip Bauer. Did they ask him and he turned them down? Or was he interested but unavailable?

I mean, James Cromwell was fine, but damn, I'd have loved to see Donald Sutherland on a show like this.

I believe they asked but the relationship between Kiefer and Donald had been strained quite some time, to the point of them not talking to one another, and they had reconciled on some level and felt that the plot-line between the fictional characters wouldn't be appropriate.

That was a thoroughly entertaining episode! I loved how Kate (with the help of Jack) got Navarro to talk. Looks like a lot of the really great action will be saved for next weeks episode, but I was pretty shocked when that semi rammed Jack and Kate's SUV.

I think I spoiled myself on Zheng Zi being the ultimate villain this season, but it wasn't one of those "this is the guy" posts, it was just "it could be..." so seeing him turn up was still a surprise, even if it was a small one.

Now I'm kind of disappointed this season is only 12 episodes, I think a lot more could have been done with this storyline and setting.

This might slowly become my favorite 24 season. Before I wasn't sure if I should get into the show since it was done. Now I'm glad I did because that episode rocked. I'm a little bummed there are only two episodes left and it feels like they could get another 12 episodes dealing with everything that's happened, but this has been such a fun ride.

Damn I keep forgetting they started at 11 and not noon. I thought we still had three episodes left :(

I don't see how bringing in Zheng Zi , plus the Russian subplot, is going to be fixed in 2 hours...unless it's a set up for another season?

And wasn't there supposed to be a time jump somewhere?

And the early preview of Jack pulling Chloe on a ravaged London street...that was just a dramatic commercial, not in the show, right?

I've a feeling the Russians are going to try and apprehend Jack just as he's about to grab the device, a common 24 trope. But you are correct, with only two episodes left it seems odd that they still have so much set up.

I've heard here (and other places) that the time jump will occur in the final episode.

occurs in the season finale which is called 10 PM to 11 AM

Yep. I think that they filmed that before they started filming the season premiere.

Wow, they're bringing back the Chinese bad guys AND the Russian bad guys?! This is going to be a crowded final two episodes!

Benjamin Bratt goes from "Oh my God, get me out of here!" to "I'm Captain CIA-badass." Groan.
