Agents of SHIELD. Season 1 Discussion Thread

Are Madame Hydra and Viper the same? Because if so, there might be rights issues with Fox.

I found this quote from Anthony Hopkins amusing, "I think they would have to explain in 'Thor 3,' if there is one, what happens to Odin. Or maybe it’ll just be a story line, maybe he went to Tahiti or something for a holiday. I don’t know."
I called it!

But it won't surprise me to find that Cinema'Verse AIM is Killian's own creation that's simply managed to outlive him without a HYDRA connection.

Maybe, but it wouldn't surprise me if they revealed that Killian was working for the Red Skull all along. I mean, it would hardly be a shocker for the Skull to turn up alive in the present day, considering he's done so in the comics and most animated adaptations.

You may have a point.

We don't know when/if/how the other shoe re: the Red Skull is going to drop, and Duncan raised a good point as well about how the Skull disappeared from that plane in The First Avenger. If he returned from wherever he went before Rogers woke up, he could've been (one of) Killian's backers after his hopes re: Stark fell through.

In the comics, the earliest Madame Hydra we know of took the original Viper's name by deadly force, after breaking with her faction of HYDRA. So there might indeed be issues.

Just a random thought- its referred to as the MCU, the Marvel cinematic universe. But with Agents of SHIELD on TV, along with the eventual Daredevil, Luke Cage, Iron Fist and 500 other tv spin offs, and the shorts such as Agent Carter, Item 47 etc, does that term really still apply? In that cinematic refers to movies, no? When there's a lot more to it than that now.

Also, it can be confused with "Marvel Comics Universe." I propose using something simpler, like AMUUMDVT-- Alternate Marvel Universe Using Modern Digital Video Technology.

It still applies, I'd argue. This universe began in movies and still has its roots in the movies.

I was just thinking the same thing yesterday.

Something like Marvel Live Action Universe might work...But do we have the power here to start a new Internet catchphrase?

I do think the confusion between Marvel Cinematic Universe and Marvel Comic Universe is a legitimate one (although Marvel Comic Universe is a surprisingly unhelpful term, they're all comics and there's at least two Marvel Comic Universes). It's definitely annoying to type in MCU and not get the Cinematic Universe.

MLAU could arguably work. At this point, I think MCU has stuck, though, so I probably wouldn't bother changing it.

I wasn't aware anyone used the phrase "Marvel Comics Universe." I thought the comics universes were called the Marvel Universe and the Ultimate Marvel Universe (or maybe Marvel Ultimate Universe?).

The might be confusing it with the DCU. But its MU for the comics and MCU for the films/TV show, for me.

I guess DC film continuity will be the DCCU?
