Well I'm happy that at least the whole Extremis thing wasn't just swept under the rug when Killian was killed. Which helps to make the whole MCU feel like a more cohesive set of movies and tv shows. While I'd like to see more super human response, I'm patient, it'll happen and since they can't really use 'mutants' or 'magic' per se, they have to rely on the more scientific and technologic explanations the previous movies have set up.

So once Centipede or whatever starts releasing super beings creating stuff out there, then I imagine we'll start seeing more super heroes that Marvel has rights to. I'm just looking at all this as the set up for a world full of super powered good guys and bad guys. The genie is coming out of its bottle. Just a matter of time.

 Spoilers. Everything is a damn spoiler to someone. The existence of movies you haven't seen is a spoiler. Screw "spoilers".

Besides, they're NOT going to "spoil" anything, or else they'd fear no one would go see the damn movies.

That's true. The thing that's worth remembering is that writers often have to try to balance the needs of two different audiences at once -- e.g. people who are familiar with the comics and people who aren't, or people who are fans of the MCU and people who are new to it, or in this case people who've already seen Thor 2 and those who haven't. You never want to cater just to one group in a way that alienates the other; a basic part of the business is finding a balance that will work for both groups. So any Easter-egg allusions they make to the movie will be designed not to spoil too much for those who haven't seen it yet.

After all, as several people in the thread have acknowledged, one of the functions of the show is to help promote the Marvel movies. So this episode is probably going to be aimed more at people who haven't seen the movie yet than at people who have. It's going to be about whetting their appetites to see the movie, not ruining the experience for them. Anything it gives away about the movie will be more a teaser than a spoiler.

It looks to me from the trailers like there's an attack on Earth in the first act and that's what draws Thor back to Jane, whereupon he takes her to Asgard, and then maybe most of the rest of the movie takes place off Earth. So Coulson's team may just be following up on the aftermath of the first act, and have no knowledge of what happens in the rest of the movie. Sure, it's possible that the climax will bring the action back to Earth -- that seems obligatory in movies these days -- but Marvel seems to want to expand their movies in a more cosmic direction, so maybe it won't.

Me, I'm going to see the movie sometime before the episode airs on the 19th. But that's not because I'm afraid of being spoiled; it's just because I want to experience events in chronological order.

Exactly. I think it's to be expected that it would tie into the movies somewhat, because hey, this is the Marvel Universe, a universe that is heavily interconnected throughout its movies. I don't think it's far-fetched to think they might be doing the same thing with the TV show by at least incorporating some subtle and not so subtle references of its movies while they make them. The TV show itself stands well enough on its own merits without having to be a marketing tool.

And yeah, they wouldn't spoil anything. Everything about the movies is designed to compliment each other, and I doubt they would make the TV any different in that regard.

I think that they may be establishing the show as serving a connective role between the films...like the Phase 1 post-credits teasers and the One-Shots, but moreso.

    Interesting.

Coulson knows that he's being lied to.

“I got hurt once, pretty bad–and I died. Some say it was only for eight seconds but I know it was more than that. I know I wasn’t here anymore. I was there….It’s beautiful.”

Well, that is indeed interesting and quite cool if it turns out to be true.

Might give my interest in Shield a boost and if they continue to broaden the scope and storylines might get it where i always wanted it to be from the beginning.

Happy they are not satisfied to make only a mystery of the week type show but do have indeed an apparently quite bigger plan.

EW has reported that there will be an AoS crossover wit the new Thor movie. That ought to boost the ratings.

    Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!

(You have no idea what I'm saying no about!)

    Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!

    Coulson is Thor's mortal identity.

Thor saw Coulson's ghost shuffling off... Snagged him by the ankle... Threw his soul back into Phil's own body, and then jumped in after him to stopper in his soul to the mortal realm.

    ALLLTOGETHERNOW!

    NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Imagine the final episode of seaosn one and all seems lost, aliens are invading and Coulseon says "Fuck this! It's Hammer Time!"

    :)

    Well, there is precedence.

    Jake Olsen.

    WTF?

That is not the origin I remember reading in Thor #1.

I thought it was "Hark the fallen noble healer who fell in a battle I committed, for which the burden of Guilt is so great that I must take on his mortal life as my own!"

    Or words to that effect.

If that's all it was then why keep it a secret from Coulson?

    Maybe it's level 8 (or 9 or 10 or....)
You don't want people to know there's a place to bring the dead back to life. They get sloppy.
And when they can't book the room for a "loved one" they get pissed.

Ok for some speculation on Thor 2-crossover?

Seen the movie last week and I think this will happen on AoS:

First of all this must be episode set in London. Not sure if this has been confirmed?

I think that one or more portals to other planets have been left open and team is sent to contain it and maybe capture some creatures that have come through. Or to contain some other anomaly caused by portals. Rememeber that first anomalies(gravity fluctuations) appeared days or weeks before actual event where universes, etc synced up. So anomalies will probably also happen for days after the event until things get back to normal.

That way for people who have not seen movie it doesnt really matter why portals/anomalies have happened, they just have. And people who have seen movie will know full backstory of those portals. And luckily destruction was pretty limited to one park/group of buildings. So no need to see ruined London. So little bit like "Primeval" episode of S.H.I.E.L.D :D

Slightly off topic, the Nerdist podcast is doing a series of Marvel podcasts this week. Today's episode was Clark Gregg, Wednesday is Tom Hiddleston, and next Monday is the head of Marvel films (can't remember his name).
