Series 5 trailer

His voice when he says were crashing in TEOT2 sounds just like Davison!

I still have yet to see the last two specials (And the regeneration) but that looks friggen fantastic. Can't wait for the new era of the Doctor to begin. Hopefully the relationship between BBC and BBC America is good that these will air in the states relatively close to when they air in the UK.

They have already haven't they? The Beeb is good to the old colonies, better than they have been to us in that regard :p

Did anyone think, from the promo shots from weeks ago, that the new Doctor might be a bit more brooding? They all seemed to be shot with shadow in mind (examples), the trailer has a Doctor who's positively buzzing in comparison.

^ And BBCA is light-years ahead of SyFy for Dr. Who. I wish they'd show SJA S2 already, though I could just get the DVD's.

With the weeping angel reference in TEOF part 2, I wonder if we will learn more of a backstory and that reference makes me wonder if the Time Lords created the angels or they are exiled timelords.
They were only being compared to them, notice how they were mimicking the covering of their eyes.

What happened to the man who used to say that DW should be about looking to the future and not dredging up the past? Daleks, Silurians & Sea Devils, River Song and the Weeping Angels (and rumours of Cybermen for the finale from often reliable people).

Is he really that worried that people won't watch?

It's not exactly unheard of to give the new Doctor some "bankers" to ease him into the role.

Besides, the Silurians aren't exactly well-known outside fandom, and they are the sort of alien that you can frame an interesting story around. Daleks are a bit obvious, I'll grant you, but I assume there is going to be a twist somewhere to make them more interesting than they have been.

I thought River Song was set up to return, so I'm not at all surprised to see her again. Reportedly the Weeping Angels will only play a minor role.

I think it's only fair to wait until we actually see the episodes before judging Moffat.

What a quaint notion

(I agree BTW, people slagging off Smith after 30 seconds of post regeneration hysteria is v annoying)

are they even the Silurians? it seems to be discussed alot on GB and people are not sure, has offical conformation come in that ive missed?

As I've said before, I'm not convinced they're Silurians and Sea Devils.

They've got guns with big round dishes at the front and a taste for fishnet clothing. One of them looks like a reptilian-humanoid and the other like an amphibian-humanoid. I know where my money's going!

Who were last seen 25 years ago, they don't exist for the majority of the audience.

Loved the trailer. I didnt expect it after the confidential on BBC3. I was sorting some late gifts from family who were visiting then all of a sudden, i heard the trailer and my jaw dropped.

Then after watching the scenes i finally thought that he looks/acts quite good with what we saw. I cant judge the guy until we see the first few eps.

But the old school Daleks were fab, hitting a Dalek with a sledge hammer has to be the best comedic moment in the trailer. Its as if he'd try anything to do something to it so whacks it one on the tin roof out of frustrarion or to distract it. Not quite a hat on the eye stalk, but it screemed early Who style humour.

And the scene where he and River Song fall onto the floor of what looks like a ship, its silver and has a stair case, so in all fairness it could be a lower level or room of the Tardis that we get to see, finally.

But he shows promise. im not one of those "He's way too young" lot. Aslong as he does the character justice and acts well, its good enough for me to watch for 45 minutes on a saturday night.

I got the impression that perhaps the TARDIS materializes, River Song sees it and starts beating on the door for the Doctor, he opens it and she falls in...but that's just complete and total speculation on my part...

I loved the trailer too...just what I needed to see after that hugely emotional finale for 10...I loved the opening shot of the regenerated TARDIS and 11 asking "What have you got for me this time?" :D I wonder if that might be the last scene of his first episode? New TARDIS, 11 over his regeneration crazies and ready to go!

It would have been nice if that had put this trailer at the end of TEOT2, they usually do that.

Really enjoyed that trailer. It looks exciting! "Trust me, I'm the Doctor." Will do, and can't wait! :D

Well Tom Bakers first season had Sontarans, Cybermen, AND Daleks. And he turned out okay.

This just looks... Terrible to me.

Is this Dr. Who - The next generation??? Because the leads look like they are barely 20. Zero gravitas.

Of course, being in the US, who knows if we ever get to see this new season.

^Oh get over it. We've seen about 30 seconds of him and snippets in a trailer. Wait until you see a full episode or two of him before judging how good he is.

Do you think there's any chance that the sonic screwdriver is actually being destroyed there? After it explodes it tumbles out of his hand so it doesn't seem like some crazy function of the screwdriver.

It's being destroyed. All things contacted to the RTD era are either being blown up or torn apart

Although Smith is young relatively speaking, I doubt that they'd have dressed him in that particular outfit if their only reasoning behind casting him was to attract the "hip" crowd...it seems to be more the juxtaposition of this old and wise mind in this young and somewhat gangly body...
