Series 5 trailer

If there is one thing that's a bit of a turnoff already is the outfits on both Smith and the actress who is playing the companion. I'd put it as an analogy to singers on American Idol doing big band even though they are like 20 years old. It's kind of the same here. These outfits just look too "old-fashioned" for my taste and too grown up for those who are in the respective roles. I'm not saying they should be in jeans and a t-shirt or anything like that, but what about somewhere in between what Tennant wore and what Ecc wore?

Also, I understand Dr Who being outlandish and that might be the reason for the outfits, but physically so far, I'm having a bit of trouble getting past it, again because of the age and look of the people who are going to be in the roles.

^Oh get over it. We've seen about 30 seconds of him and snippets in a trailer. Wait until you see a full episode or two of him before judging how good he is.

Trailers are released exactly for this reason, to get people interested. Of course we make snap judgments on the trailer. That is what we are supposed to do.

And I am only spelling out what the majority of people seem to hesitate to post.

Is this the really best footage they could put together???

I disagree. Mr Smith looks very smart (not meaning intelligent) and rather sophisticated in those clothes. I would hate for the Doctor to look as he does and then "dress to match". There is nothing wrong with a younger man wearing nice clothes and a bow tie. He (Smith) is an indirect role model and as such his appearance will probably have an effect on younger mens' wardrobe choices, which would not be bad.

Seems to have worked out well for a lot of people. And it seems like a lot of people are whinging about him because of his age, his hair, his look, rather than on his acting ability... which of course they can't because we've seen fuck all to judge him on.

Makes you wonder if they could ever have a doctor that actually has different closthes each week! Sure the doctors have had minor variations and Ten had a blue and brown suit, but what about some different comfortable clost from day to day. LOL

Who were last seen 25 years ago, they don't exist for the majority of the audience.

So they would be just the same as any totally new monsters they could come up with. Plus they appeal to those of us who remember the Sea Devils/Silurians (either from first run or reruns).

It can't possibly hurt to use a foe from 25+ years ago, I think it worked with the Sontarans.

I, for one loved Fury from the Deep when it first came out... oops showing my age..lol

I think he said he wanted to bring back the "real Cybermen", but I thought that was just a throwaway line rather than something that's coming up.

I don't see why they could not bring the real cybermen back, at last check they had their fleet destroyed in Silver Nemisis, but their still out there and were not advanced enough to be in the Timewar.

Yeah, with all that running about and the way episodes generally segue into the next, he must never change his clothes. They must stink. That probably explained why 10 was companion-less at the end ...

Indeed, when I post, I go by what I think, not what others think as nine times out of ten I'll be way off base as the colonials put it.

Anyway, I liked the trailer, the new series looks fun and exciting and after seeing Matt Smith in a few things, I'm sure The Doctor is in safe hands.
