Series 5 trailer

There is a clip where he is speaking to Amy, I think, where he says, "Trust me, I'm the Doctor". He really convinces me. I like him. The clips look exciting. The only thing I'm not sold on is the new companion. Still, time will tell.

I think it looks cool and I think he's gonna be great and I'm going to fall in love with Amy Pond

Can't get the trailer to work. I'm in the US too. :klingon:

Nevermind, found this one if you're in the US.

Given that Smith's catchphrase seems to be 'Geronimo', there's one very obvious real-life historical figure the Doctor needs to interact with now. (Clue - a Native American chief ...)

Looks good and Smith's promise, shown at the end of last night's episode, seems to be fulfilled. Definitely seems to be echoing Tennant, though that's hardly a bad thing. I must admit, I thought Tennant was quite like Eccleston for much of his first season before really finding his own grip on the character, so perhaps this is just history repeating itself.

Do you think there's any chance that the sonic screwdriver is actually being destroyed there? After it explodes it tumbles out of his hand so it doesn't seem like some crazy function of the screwdriver.

It's being destroyed - I suspect so he can "upgrade" it to one that will look better in HD.

I liked what I saw. Spring can't come soon enough, especially if BBC America will continue to keep the airdate gap as short in the U.S. as they did for "The End of Time." :)

Looks very exciting. Not sure about 'Geronimo' (sp?) as a phrase but I'm sure it will grow on me. Smith reminds me of Peter Davison.

I'd say all three of these doctors have been reminiscent of Peter Davison (my favorite of the old school for his subdued eccentricity--welcome after Tom Baker's antic broadness--and dour humanity) in that they have been young and vital.

Based on Moffat's comments about Eleven, I suspect he'll end up a little closer to being like Davison. I'm sure his channeling of Tennant will be temporary. Maybe he'll come into his own once he ditches Tennant's clothes. ;)

Moffat has described Davison and Tennant as his two favorite Doctors, so it wouldn't surprise me if he's chosen an actor whose performance resembles elements of theirs, in addition to bringing qualities of its own. Mind you, I don't think Smith will continue to be as Tennant-like as he was in the final scene of "The End of Time."

I' better on a cross between Troughton and Davison...There'll probably be a bit of residual Tennant manicness in there for a while as well

Great trailer! I can't wait. As for the trailer analysis, I'm not convinced those two are a Silurian and a Sea Devil.

The scenes that stand out the most for me:

- the Doctor hitting a Dalek w/a sledge hammer (what does he think that's gonna do?)

well a baseball bat has worked in the past
Except it was a specially energized baseball bat via the Hand of Omega. Still, it's amusing to see The Eleventh Doctor try.

I' better on a cross between Troughton and Davison...There'll probably be a bit of residual Tennant manicness in there for a while as well
I'm also hoping for a cross between Troughton and Davison, especially the former based on the attire. I'm hoping we'll see more bow ties thand neckties.

With the weeping angel reference in TEOF part 2, I wonder if we will learn more of a backstory and that reference makes me wonder if the Time Lords created the angels or they are exiled timelords.
