I didn't see this game, so I'm only just finding out about it, but did anyone see Marco Scutaro walking against the Phillies the other night, and then stealing second after trotting down to first? He rather awesomely made the Phillies look like a Little League squad.

Hopefully this link works.

That might be the best stolen base attempt I've ever seen. :guffaw:

Dice-K is having a meltdown.

Another Dice-aster. When Smoltz is ready, I'd say it's time to bust Dice-K down or have him split time with Clay Buchholz--anyone who can pitch competently. If Dice-K doesn't turn it around, I think his days with the Sox might be numbered.

It's hard to believe he's having so much trouble after that amazing year last year.

He gets rattled very easily and I think that his performance issues earlier in the season have gotten in his head and crippled him psychologically.

This is not a problem with Josh Beckett, who seems to have ice water running through his veins.

So... I wish they would let Smoltz pitch against the Braves, because I would cheer for him deep down inside.

Jeff Bennett needs to quit dipping and spend more time throwing pitches that aren't fastballs right down the middle... anyway...

I am going to the Yankees/Braves game tomorrow night. This will be my first time to ever see the Yankees, I'm excited.

Giants salvaged what could have been a disaster week. Get swept by the Angels, but then sweep the Rangers. It's a shame Saturday's win couldn't have been better than a wild pitch but a win is a win. Now it's part II of the battle of the bay and the A's better be playing with a chip on the Shoulder.

That was a great game yesterday. Zito had such a bad start that I was surprised when I looked at the scoreboard around the 5th inning and noticed he had a no-no going.

I was down by the Giants bullpen, but was blocked by someone standing up and didn't get a clear view of Jones home run. Although, everyone around me was stunned that they called it fair. I haven't seen the replay yet, but it must have been fair based on the writeup.

Great game and awesome Father's Day present...

Thank goodness this miserable homestand is over! Ibanez and Howard were out for part of it, which could explain some of the horrible hitting (particularly in the 2-1 loss, ugh) but still a 1-8 record is NOT good.

Oh well. I got to go to a game (this was taken before the game started, so we weren't sad yet):

There were other people who went, too, including my Orioles fan friend who clapped loudly and frequently.

Lincecum does it again. I didn't think he should be out there for the 9th, save the arm and all that, but he just mowed 'em down 1 2 3. Well done, again. If there is a special moment in this season, I think it's watching the best tandem in baseball working some special stuff, Tim Lincecum and Matt Cain. If both aren't in St. Luis, that would be wrong.

Let that be a lesson. Don't invite rival fans! ;)

Otherwise, nice pic. Citizen Bank Park is cool to be at, even in a loss.

Jays are building up a little head of steam at the moment. Hopefully they can keep it up and pass back in front of the Yankees. :)

Also, I found this in an article on TSN.ca. If anyone had any doubt that the AL East is the toughest division in baseball, here's the run differential leaders to date in the MLB:

L.A. Dodgers +88
Boston Red Sox +71
Tampa Bay Rays +67
Toronto Blue Jays +43
St. Louis Cardinals +36
Colorado Rockies +33
New York Yankees +32
Detroit Tigers +31
Philadelphia Phillies +29
Minnesota Twins +22

I've got to admit I feel sorry for the O's.

Well, the whole John Smoltz thing isn't working out so well just yet (his first start, so not worried until he's had time to settle in a bit), but still was extremely entertained tonight. During the 7th inning stretch, NESN randomly focused on a few people in the grandstand while they talked us into the bottom of the 7th. Did a double-take, as the girl looked familiar, and I could kinda make out the guy next to her. Was just about to say "nah", and shake it off, and then saw the two guys next to them. Two friends of mine from high school, the guy's dad, and his older brother! All wearing Nationals' caps or non-baseball stuff, so kinda random that they'd focus on a group from New England while looking for Nats' fans. :)

Ya Smoltz's night didn't go to well. The stuff was there, but the location was off. He improved greatly during the game though. It was really a normal start to someone who has not pitched in the Major's for a year.

Not worried at all really.

Hey, he can't be any worse than Dice-K, the Sox version of Chien-Ming Wang, right?

EDIT: Beckett pitches another gem tonight; he's definitely gotten over his woes earlier in the season. And I think it's safe to say that Papi is back. He's been crushing those balls lately.

Damn, Romero took a no-no through seven innings tonight. Too bad he couldn't hold onto it, but still very impressive. I have the feeling the Jays may be about to take flight... Halladay is back on Monday, Rios and Wells are finally playing up to their ability, and Hill, Lind and Scutaro are still tearing it up. String together a few more wins, and we may just pass the Yankees before the ASB.
