Star Trek Rotten Tomatoes Rating

The RT ratings sure have shot up since yesterday. Very happy to see the majority of reviews are still positive. :D

Good the LA times is a big Newspaper this is a good sign

The New York Daily News also seems to slightly like it...

This review for religious parents is my favorite (really):
Some things will always be true. The crewman you've never seen before who transports to a remote location with two of the lead character is not going to last long. In the future, women will all wear very short skirts and be extremely beautiful. All planets are congenial for human life, with just the right atmosphere and gravity. Fights usually occur on catwalks and other locations with precipitous drops. Kirk has to be hanging from a ledge at least three times and have an encounter with an exotic but very beautiful lady. And everybody speaks English, except when Uhura has to show off her translation skills.

A brief thought: Imagine a year ago that you knew the movie would be running at 94% on rottentomatoes. Who amongst us would not have cheered and gladly said, yes, this is beyond my expectations in every way?

This is a good movie. :)

This dude Erik Childress, who gives it a Rotten 2/4 stars, really ought to have a disclosure at the top of his review explaining that he LIKES the Star Wars prequels and not only gave Episode 3 4/4 stars (I think it was OK, 3/4)...but he gave Episode 2 4/4!!! I haven't seen it yet, but I'm sorry...there's no way that any Star Trek, or anything made by Abrams, could possibly be as infantile as Star Wars 2, and Childress is comparing Trek to Muppet Babies? Zero credibility; pure jealousy.

What is funny ALL of the "negative" reviews complain that its either:

Too Fun
Too Loud
Too Exciting
Too Fast
or some variation of all...

So the negative reviewers are basically asking for an "old" type slow Star Trek film which they probably called boring and unexciting when they reviewed the past films!

I am sorry but if the most negative thing they can say is "the film is too fun" then I hardly call that negative! :)

I don't think much of those movies - okay, I think they suck - but they were immensely successful and popular. One must conclude, therefore, that a reviewer's admiration for them would not be interpreted by most people, other than perhaps geeks, as de facto proof of lousy taste that would be revealed by such a "disclosure."

The sad thing: The Onion was right about those ... those fans... :(

Michael Bay wins!

^Probably for those who don't like Star Trek at all just to bring the rating down?

It's great to see the reviews being so positive. Also nice to get some negative reviews to get a good bearing on things. Even though I did read some of the reviews, saw the reviewers resume and decided to take them with a grain of salt.

Some idiots will give the film the lowest rating possible just because they don't like it. Probaly SW fans who feel the New film is a threat.

Similier to the Marvel fanboys giving TDK low rating last year

really? I was aware of Marvel/DC rivalry, but not to that extent.

I imagine there will be lots of demonstrative fans who want to get their two cents in with the user rating in advance of the film. Things might level off when the general public takes the time to weigh in.

Star Wars fans nuking the rating is stupid and immature what are these guys, 12 years old.

For the record I am a Star Wars fan too, I like both series.

I have continually watch re-runs of all the Trek series, people can enjoy both without picking on and beating up the other.

The haters have petty and weak personalities.

I am glad if Star Trek beats Star Wars this time out, it means we get more movies. Because that's how the industry works.

I was just looking at how much money these movies pull in and it hasn't been much. I was really surprised, Star Trek has never even had 150 million dollar hit yet? That's about to change.

compared too

So yes It would be awesome if it could beat out the ROTS for box office gross, not sure that it will happen, but I will be glad if it does.
