Star Trek Rotten Tomatoes Rating

Um Ebert, what the heck is "much of a muchness?"

[Edit] Nevermind, wikied it. Since when do we harkin back to Shakespeare language in a pop culture movie review?

Mike Wong from SD.net heard of the Ebert review and said the other reviews are from nothing but fanboys.

I guess SD.net is just pissed this film crushed the Prequels

I'm no Shakespearean scholar but I've heard the phrase many times before.

Yeah that review is rotten on balance. It's a rotten review I respect because it judges the movie on its merits rather than by how well it fits a certain cultural or artistic agenda.

Yeah. If you're going to attack the movie, you're best shot is to go after the plot. It's fair game. One thing Guzman says is strange, though. He says this Spock (Quinto) has something new: sex appeal. Um, didn't Nimoy's Spock have that same appeal to the ladies in the 1960s?

well, it's obvious GuzMAN is a man :p

and hell yes. and not just ladies in the 60s. ladies in the 90s and the 2000s, as well.

Spock was the thinking woman's crumpet way before Mulder ever came on the scene.

Paulina Porizkova once said that her perfect man was Mr. Spock. I don't know how much better that gets. :bolian:

Yeah, really. Ebert hardly needs to defend that. Let's just be glad that in lieu of education we at least have search engines.

You should hear the line in the original Klingon. ;)

Actually, I'm thrilled when anyone uses a line taken from Shakespeare appropriately these days.

I keep forgetting, between Ebert and the late Gene Siskel, wasn't it Siskel who liked all things Star Trek more to begin with?

Ebert liked Treks I, II, III, IV, VI and VIII.

Siskel liked Insurrection and even argued with Ebert that Picard's speech in the movie was more relevant than anything Yoda's ever said.

Roeper liked Nemesis.

If this movie had some J-Lo or Angelina Jolie cleavage or Neve Campbell skin, Ebert would've been all over it with the praise.

Ha! He was one half the genius behind Beyond the Valley of the Dolls.

In trekus veritas, in jedius wookieas.

Trek beat almost all the prequels. And we didn't have to have a Jar Jar Binks to do it.
