So, the uhhhhh, obviously there's not a scientist with any valid credentials who would sign off on the existence of a fifth rocky planet, at that period of the solar system, nor the possibility of an extinct humanoid Martian species. Should that matter? Well, good question. There were plenty of TOS stories that featured the same kind of fairy tales as this one. Even by TNG era they were still doing things that were not possible. So I guess I kind of don't mind the whole thing. Even though it defies a wealth of astronomical study, albeit incomplete, on the origins of the Chicxulub asteroid.
